Warning - Viking Bags

Well, 4 months and $300 spent over list price and the bags are finally on the bike. They don't look half bad, but the lining on one bag has already let go and the opening is too small to get my photography gear in, but I'm just not willing to put any more effort into them.

I AM willing to put more effort into slapping the company around. Here's that link again: http://trath.posterous.com/customer-service. Share it around, tweet it, put the word out. From what I can track, this story has been read by over a thousand people!

HERES MY E MAIL

I ,too have been looking at bags for my bike , and after reading all about your customer service on a popular triumph site , alls i can say is , if you have lots of bags in stock , good luck selling them , but it won't be too me .

Also post up your story on ripoffreport.com, and apparently there already is one report.

They have an advert on youtube with a smokin' hot spokes-hottie.. but no comment.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a rep from the company. Apparantly they are trying to turn things around and are starting by making good with angry former customers. He has offered to send me a new set of bags of my choice free of charge. The ones I like cost considerably more than the originals (which have all but fallen apart) but that wasn't an issue.

I'm maintaining healthy skepticism, but maybe they will even things up. I will post all the facts once they come in. (The new bags are backordered, something I knew before choosing them so not Viking's fault.)

Best exchange of the first call:
VB: "We want Viking to be known for our customer service."
Me: "To be fair, Viking is already quite known for your customer service."
VB: "........Yes, well...... Not like that."

you are one of many thousand customers they are trying to make it right give them a chance give them credit for going to you to make it right

Try EDGE. The 103XL size is perfect for the R3. Mine are still perfect on an 08 bike.

Got a call from Bobby at Viking today. He had heard from the manufacturer of the replacement bags I wanted that they will not be getting restocked until May or June. So I'm going with my 2nd choice (which actually look similar to the R3 bags fron Triumph) as they are in stock and can come my way this week. Discussed shipping options as I know from experience the pitfalls of shipping to Canada. I'm not 100% confident about the fit so he is also throwing in a chrome turn signal relocation kit just to be safe.

I am a bit disappointed that I won't be getting my first pick, but the communication has been solid and I have been kept informed by phone or email at every step.
