Had a 2008 Vegas 8-ball
Hi All!

New here, but have been reading for a few days. I have to say you all have helped me make up my mind! I previously owned a 2008 Vegas 8-ball for three years, which was my first bike ever. Bought it when I was 38 years old and needed some extra fun in my life. My ex says that was the beginning of the mid-life crisis that eventually led to us no longer being married. Maybe so, but I say that was the beginning of me realizing life is too short and to live life fully one has to do things to make you feel alive! Riding does that so well. Anyway, she didn't, and still doesn't, get it. Her loss. I sold the bike during the breakup and have been itching for a new ride ever since. I loved my Vegas (attached a pic), but I don't like the way the new one's look. And besides, I'm 6'3" 250# and need something a bit beefier. I had it narrowed down to the R3R, the K1600GT or the Street Glide Special. I want to travel, but something about the BMW and HD just nagged at me. So, after reading the different forum posts the past 2 days...I just have to have one of these beasts! I figure removable saddlebags on the R3R will do the trick when I want to take a trip. I know there is one at the dealership near me right now calling my name. However, before I jump on that one, shouldn't I wait a bit for the 2015 R3R to come out? Either way I'm stoked to soon be a part of the group!!! Thank you all for unknowingly helping me make up my mind.

Now, to wait or not to wait...?

I bought a new old stock '12 R3R in late '13, and got $4500.00 off.

Based on that, I don't know if I'd wait on a '15; or work out a good deal on a '14 (or "new" '13).

Welcome aboard. I doubt the '15 will be any different to the '14 so the only advantage in waiting would be to see if you can get one off the floor for a bit cheaper - a '14 that is. By the way, Triumph bags for the Roadster are great but they're not quick release so you'll need to either look into some other type of bag or something like EZ brackets. There is a pretty simple mod that makes the Triumph bags quickish to get off; just ask at the time and well tell you.

You sound like the perfect candidate to me for a Rocket! Sorry to hear about your break-up but you're in good hands here with this forum and you'll love owning and riding a Rocket. I don't see any reason to wait for a '15 if Triumph is even going to make one. I'm in agreement with Rick McC. above about getting a good deal on a new one that a dealer is trying to unload.

Thank you all! I'm excited and just needed the confirmation from somewhere that this bike is really THAT good!
