Viking exhaust is hot

You can have your bike tuned by the best in the world but the fact is your pipes will be very very very hot, the stock pipes get just as hot but they have excellent heat shields
Agree, It will take a little time and labor to build heat shields that match where my leg sits without hiding to much of the header.

Just poking fun at the idea of forward controls with my pipes, would be viable regardless of tune, not that I mind. Glad you ended up with the bike working closer to your idea of optimal!!
I understand the idea of forward controls with a header is insane. " i'm good with that ":confused::unsure:

Also running Viking header on 2008 with Ramair, through Staintunes. Just put on Viking single silencer and looked at temps at idle 400 500 400 front to back.

Which tune are you running and are my idle temps in line with yours?
I have a PC5 and auto tune with HansO A/F tables but that was for the Staintunes.

Haven’t had the bike on the road yet, just fired it today.
Good to read your post.

Sleeves from N.Z. gave me a tune but it's for a 2014. I tried a 2010 tune and bike would not start. Don't think mine would help you.

You could always go with a thick section of leather straped to you leg under your extra heavy duty leather riding pants.

Should keep the heat down.

But if your riding with just jeans on the heat will be very noticeable.

I would look at the leather with velcro straps to hold in place only needs to be on the side of the leg closest to the headers.

I ride with jeans and ankle high boots.
No problems.

Sure around town if you are at a stop light, then move to another stop light 200 yards down the road, then another, and another .... the Exhaust Pipe will be hot on your leg, but as soon as you have any sort of speed on, 30MPH +, air flow will take care of any heat.

My Reband seem very hot too, I did do exhaust wrap then put the heat shield on, ok when slow moving but super hot at standstill. At night I can see a red glow where the wrap has a gap where all 3 pipes meet.
