Uh oh,passenger heat BIG problem


Yeah-yeah-yeah. Better get your licks in while you can poutine boy. In 4 months your going to be up to your courting gear in snow.
 
Yeah now my wife is saying that she will love the heat when it gets cold......Ugghh.I am going to wrap the pipes anyway and try the performance coolant and at some point change the tune and probably the mufflers.
 

I get you on this, but then again... I can tell you that I'd trade both bikes, my home, cars and whatever else - if it would somehow bring back my special lady and love of my life, Laura, who used to complain, nicely though, about a buzz-like discomfort that radiated up her spine when we were running much over 45 or 50 on my other bike, which is why we had to stop going anywhere, much, except maybe occasionally across town for a bite of food, etc. Laura collapsed suddenly and unexpectedly on a Monday morning in May of last year ('14) from a ruptured cerebral aneurism, after we'd talked only an hour or so prior.

I just purchased a new '2014 R3T last month (May), in large part to honor her and the idea we'd discussed several times over the last several years about my "perhaps being able to see my way clear to get us an even heavier, more comfortable touring/cruising machine" when I could. Well, Sweetheart, I got it for us... and my most fervent wish is that you could be here to enjoy it with me.

Moral of story: Life sure is fragile, and we just don't know what tomorrow may hold. Love and treasure every moment with your ladies and families, fellows. I'd love to be blessed with the opportunity to go back and relive every moment of every one of over 10 years with Laura, now - "complaints and all"... and I feel certain in my heart that she'd say the same thing.
 
Glad to hear you're getting on and making the most of it. Can't even begin to feel or express remorse for the kind of loss you endured!
 
My deepest condolences for your loss...I can't begin to imagine how hard that must have been to get through. Glad to hear you are still riding. Keep your chin up.

On the subject of removing the CAT's from touring pipes: don't. Just don't try. In order to get to them, you'll have to cut out all of the baffles, which, with these pipes in particular, are a total PITA. It took me a couple hours to cut mine out with carbide hole saws, then another couple to break the main welds using a broom handle and Visegrips. Not fun. Then, when you're all done with that, you can use a 3ft long extension to attempt to drill through the 6+ inch long, full profile catalytic converter, which will eat the $hit out of your bits. Keep in mind that they are ceramic coated, which is just painful to deal with. I never did break through them. My last attempt will be to use a carbide auger bit to break up the CAT and then drill clean holes through them after they are loose. I plan to get a crossover made and then go with aftermarket slip-ons for another touring motorcycle (like a Harley or Victory) that do not have CAT's in them. Just keep in mind that removing the CAT's will change your effective fuel to air ratio, so you'll need to retune to compensate. There are many people on here with lots of tuning experience using TuneECU and other methods to set the beast up how you want it. Good luck!

Never been down that road and would not care to. May God Bless you and your family through the times to come. The happy recollections, the sudden sights or smells bringing flash backs to another time when your Laura was at your side. And sometimes hearing or feeling her by your side and yet not being able to see her, she is ingrained in your heart and is ALWAYS there. Be silent and you will be together again. Sorry for the dissertation but as a ED nurse and a believer in the love and Grace of Christ Jesus. I have seen and lived His Grace and Blessings. Prayers for you the family and friends of Laura. MY BOSS HOSS IS 5735 CC AND IT ISN'T NEAR AS HOT AS MY ROCKET. I'M GOING TO GET RID OF THE CATS WITH D&D AND WRAP THE HEADERS AND A NEW TUNE AND SEE IF THAT HELPS. IF NOT THAN THIS BIKE WON'T GET RIDDEN TO MUCH IN HOT WEATHER. I LIVE IN LAS VEGAS AND AUGUST IS THE WORST.
