Turning over

Okay, here's what I know. Several days ago my 2010 rocket touring started slipping a bit. Didn't seem a major at the time, but now when I turn on the ignition with the gearbox in neutral the dash light will not show the bike as being in the neutral position. As a result or a side issue the bike will not crank over more than one revolution.
Any advice on a starting point to work this out would be greatly appreciated.

check your gear position sensor, it can get dirty and not sending neutral signal to ECU it is at back left lower side of motor, with any luck someone like Scot @warp9.9 might have a picture of it.
I have not had this issue but others have one even found water in his, I believe you have to carefully (so you don't loose parts) remove it to clean and reinstall it with a bit of Dielectric grease on it
