Neutral Light not turning on

That loose plug with the purple wire under the infill panel on rear left of engine is for an optional accessory, the 12v socket iirc. Not related to GPS anyway.

Your problem given it's a 2011 Roadster does indeed sound like the good old GPS fault with 2010 - March 2013 Roadsters.
The GPS is located near where your left heel is when riding. Its cable will have 3 wires I expect. Held on by 2 bolts. It's not covered by anything. You only have to remove that infill cover (which is above the GPS) when installing the new GPS, to access the plug.

That thread (if read) says you have to replace the GPS (new one has 4 wires, plus a 'fly lead' / adapter harness for 2010 - March 2013 Roadsters), and then make that wiring adjustment to the tachometer harness plug.
It also notes to be sure the fly lead is plugged in between the primary TPS plugs and not the speed sensor, it is an easy mix up because they are similar plugs and located close together.

The tacho plug wiring adjustment will not correct it on its own. Perhaps that thread needs a few more pictures..

I got the 4 wire kit. I didn't run the wires through yet, just plugged them in from the outside. I'm not getting any response now to any gear? It seemed self explanatory even though there were no directions. The two triangular ends I assume were supposed to be plugged into the corresponding openings created when I pulled the two originals apart? Sorry, I'm not using the correct technical lingo. I've attached a pic.
Do I have to do all the tachometer stuff on the roadster to get it to even work? I thought that was just to make it a permanent fix.

Just need to follow that thread
What do you mean by
"It also notes to be sure the fly lead is plugged in between the primary TPS plugs and not the speed sensor, it is an easy mix up because they are similar plugs and located close together."
Does it look like I've plugged everything in correctly and am good to go with the tach? I don't see a speed sensor. The only other two plugs already in the bike were at the top of the pic and neither one of those fits the plugs on the new kit.

If anyone knows of good diagrams that shows all of the parts and their names, that would be greatly beneficial. I hate not being specific.

Hard to tell from what we can see here but it looks like you've plugged the fly lead into the road speed sensor connection (yellow circle)
If you follow that cable it should bring you to a sensor which sits close to side stand when folded up.

The blue arrow points to the primary TPS, it is this fellows connection you need to plug it into, not the speed sensor as warned.

And yes you have to make the small change in the tacho

p0122
throttle position sensor low input
usually that means u have lost the ignition power supply to the tps
edit
maybe i should have said ecu power to tps
