Regarding copying I4 into I3 and I2 (I1 is for neutral - don't change that). I don't understand why so many people think the bike will work better by advancing the timing in limited parts of the operating range in gears 1-3. Tables I2-I4 are all the same in tune 20226, which is for TORs/cat bypass. I4 is difference from I2 and I3 in 20222, which is for the stock exhaust. Advancing the timing in the lower gears may work better in some cases but this isn't axiomatic. Wayne MacDonald (Tuneboy) put out a tune for TORs/cat bypass/triple Unifilters which is called "20050DynoFinalMap_WithPods_And_IgnRetard.dat". See the point?
But Dougl, correct me if I'm wrong but the GIPro mimics this by simulating 4th gear all the time, right?
copying I4 to I3 and I2 (sorry for mentioning I1) would give the same result as installating a GIPro.
several of my friends have a GIPro and they just love the difference in the lower gears!
open secs 100% and using I4 all the time, if that is the same things as a GIpro then why not, if wanting to have the sime appearance as my friends, or does GIpro do something else?
If it does little, I certainly won't worry about it. I'm running the stock tune, though, with the only modification being for the secondaries. Assuming I can get the upload running.
TuneECU is claiming my save of the factory settings is invalid. It also claims the 20352 map (from Tom's Windows live site) is invalid and refuses to open either one.

Right - it would fool the ECU into using I4 (for 4th and 5th gears) in 1st-3rd gear as well.

I just don't see the rationale. If you want it advanced in 4th gear at particular TP's and RPM's, why would you want it advanced in the same spots in lower gears where the load is different in those spots?
I'll try it on my bike and see if it REALLY makes a difference.
Leif: TuneECU did load that file w/o complaining.
Recovery still isn't working. I wonder if it is worth waiting for my charger to indicate the bike's battery is topped off before trying again (yes I have fuses pulled).
Not sure what else to look at. The drivers windows put in are from FTDI as well, from the end of '09.

Turns out that the tune I'm using from Wayne MacDonald for TOR/cat bypass uses the 20050 I4 table for I2 and I3 as well. This custom tune was based on 20050, which is the same as 20222 (stock exhaust, full cat box).
