TuneECU, ECU on Roadster is not responding anymore

That depends on the perspective. I also own the Tuneboy, but I use only TuneECU.

Even the support alone is much better than that of Tuneboy.

And TuneECU is freeware, I can at each ECU, without extra Key.

At this point, is there any advantage from using TuneECU over TuneEdit, since I have the latter? I'm always up for trying something new.

I have a Roadster as well ... just got my cable today. I'm only missing the 'key'. Are those universal for Roadsters or do I need a specific one?
(I've sent an email per the website, but I'm anxious and want to start now!)
I'm also happy to see the kinks w/ the Roadster are worked out ... thanks to the initial testers!!
On a similar test note, I have a revised Roadster-modified GiPro on its way, as we finished testing. If all goes well, a new Roadster-ready GiPro will be available soon.

If you can get the roadster hooked up to TuneECU what's the point of the GiPro? You'll be able to advance the timing in the lower gears and open the 2ndaries 100%.

I'm reading the stock map off the bike now (takes a while!) and getting ready to open secondaries to 100% all the time.
If someone knows how to do that timing adjustment as well, I'm in business.

it _should_ be to just copy I4 to I3,I2,I1
using the latest version of TuneEcu 1.6.5 you should see those 4 tables. older version, I3 and I4 may be missing.

I hope that someone with more tuning knowledge will confirm this, it is however described in the same way for Tuneedit, right?

I modded just the secondaries so far. Stopped responding shortly after starting download & wanted to do recovery. Recovery is taking FOREVER. May I assume this is normal? No progress bar movement for recovery either ... just waiting to see what happens.

you should see a progress bar when recovering.
load the original map into TuneECU and answer yes to recovery.
took me just a couple of minutes.

if it takes forever it is probably a timeout. progress bar should be there.

the normal precautions apply. bike on charger. laptop on charger. strong and fresh batteries are important. remove the fuse for headlights to preserve amps.

Something else interesting. I had the drivers ready, but Windows 7 .. after some looking around online, found some. Since TuneECU happily found the bike and read the tables, I assume the drivers are fine.

the drivers probably are. look at the version number and manufacturer.
shouldn't make any difference, but better safe than sorry!

Regarding copying I4 into I3 and I2 (I1 is for neutral - don't change that). I don't understand why so many people think the bike will work better by advancing the timing in limited parts of the operating range in gears 1-3. Tables I2-I4 are all the same in tune 20226, which is for TORs/cat bypass. I4 is difference from I2 and I3 in 20222, which is for the stock exhaust. Advancing the timing in the lower gears may work better in some cases but this isn't axiomatic. Wayne MacDonald (Tuneboy) put out a tune for TORs/cat bypass/triple Unifilters which is called "20050DynoFinalMap_WithPods_And_IgnRetard.dat". See the point?
