If you are using a laptop make sure the power cord is plugged in also and is not just running off of the battery. That always seemed to help me with Tuneboy.
thanks for the tip but I wouldn't dream of doing anything like this without:
* power cord attached to the laptop
* laptop newly rebooted
* motorcycle on charger
* fuse to head lights plugged out
Can I use this thread as an example for the next time someone wants to know why I went with a PCIII rather than alter the ECU? Kinda makes you feel like the knife slipped during brain surgery when it won't start.
It looks like I am back on track again.
I managed to evoke "ECU recovery" from TuneECU which took many attempts.
for the first hours TuneECU just tried to connect to the ECU over and over again.
I deleted the registry keys for TuneECU just to do something and
after the next start of the application I got the dialog box asking if I wanted to
to a recovery.
I had the tock 020355 tune loaded and it looks good.
I will do a 12 minute tune later today just to be sure. haven't started the bike yet, I am three rooms in, in garage with apartments on top. can't start indoors..
tried to download my modified tune again, download fine and lost contact with ECU.
recovery again and back on track.
recovery with modified tune loaded, no success.
recovery again and back on track.
will I never ever touch TuneECU again, not even with a stick? don't know for sure.
will I wait for Tuneboy to release Roadster tunes? might have to.
will I wait for PCV to be released for the Roadster? might have to.
attached is my modified tune. 100% secondaries and 260km/h topspeed. that is the only changes I have made.
Alain is notified of my problem and I will point him to current status as well.

Just to be clear, registry key is not the same as license key!
Another thing; the key file has not changed in date, size or content so no need to replace this file!

No worries Tom, it's just fun to be into this at this early stage! Spent some hours on my bike this weekend, all tuned by your SW and it runs perfect!! Keep up the good work!

what may have caused the problem? Alain is pointed to this thread and I hope he is following progress.
question, how do you name a tune? If I alter top speed and would like to call this something new, like 20356 how do I set that name?
it has nothing to do with the filename of couse.
the reason my ECU wouldn't work, something mismatch in the tune? maybe the tune _must_ have a new name, like 20356 when you make changes in it? just guessing.
