****, that's a good point .... I bypassed that little ditty along time ago. I guess that could go to the ECM .... I'll have to look it up for real.
 
It sure does, **** thing goes to the ECM and not the starter switch. Here and I thought I was just jumping the starter safety when I bypassed it, and not realizing it actually goes to the ECM as an input circuit. Big brother does know when you pull the clutch after all.
I totally didn't even think about the safety switch on the lever ...
 
Thinking about what things do what, brings me to the headlights, will the bike start with both headlights blown ? I think it will because I can't see a way that it can't. Now if you blow the fuse thats a different story because the starter and headlights are on the same fuse.

We need Myth Busters on this :)
 
I should have known this already, but while looking over the wiring diagram it dawned on me that everything is in some way connected to the ECM, either directly or by common switched ground. It seems the only exception is the oil pressure switch, and that strikes me as funny that the ECM isn't privy to whether there is oil pressure or not.

The headlight question looks to me that it will start without headlight bulbs. The common fuse supplies power to either the starter solenoid or the headlights, just not both at the same time via the relay. Obviously to interrupt the high current draw from the headlights for extra starter juice.

Since the ECM knows all and see's all, at what point in the future will they be in the court room as a witness in an accident? All this sure got me thinking .... :confused:
