Triumph Sprint ST1050

Have you thought about an early Daytona? The 1200 is ideal given what you're after from the bike. Maybe a bit harder to come by though.

Did you go see the Sprint, how did it look?

I did not get to go see the bike. I was at work all day then it started to rain:(
I found a 955i for sale but its all the way in Milwaukee. Kind of far for me to take a drive up there to check it out, especially if I don't end up liking it.

If this is improper - please tell me to rack off.
I have been following this discussion with interest because my cousin is shopping this bike.
He is also interested in the Tiger 800. Any comments regarding this? He is a great rider currently on a BMW 1200GS.

Never ridden a Tiger 800 myself .. write-ups have all been good . Rode the new 1050 Tiger Sport .. that was a really nice bike to ride. Depends if he's wanting to ride on the dirt . Know a lot of BMW GS riders hardly ever get off the bitumen .. maybe suggest your cousin go for a test ride on a Triumph 1200 Explorer... they f#ckin hammer and can handle the dirt if need be. Heaps more hooligan factor than the BM in my opinion.

I rode a 955 rs and was pretty excited about the power that baby had. The fairings just help cut thru wind at speed? right? the 955 rs is claimed top speed 145mph.

Thanks, TC.
He is one of those who very seldom rides the dirt; but, has loved his GS1200.
He has had about three motors every two years and kept this GS way longer than all the others. He liked my R3R; but, it was more than he wants to muscle around.
I'll drop that 1200explorer on him - see if he's checked it out. He is definitely pretty sold on Triumph.

I test rode a BMW1200 GS and a Triumph 1200 Explorer just about back to back .. Triumph was heaps more fun to ride .. goes like a cut cat as they say. The BMW seemed really 'civilised' compared to the Explorer.

I love my 955, but I've never ridden a 1050, I don't think there's a huge difference from what I've read. The 2002s had a batch of bad cranks, prone to breakage, don't ask me how I know,, avoid that year. Recently put a 955 Daytona motor in it, about 30 more hp. :D Just need to get a custom exhaust made, and load the Daytona tune.

So guys, I decided to expand my Craigslist search to towns a little further away and it finally paid off. I've wanted one of these bikes for a SUPER long time and its finally mine!
