Triumph Bobber Has Arrived

I liked the add. One thing I like about my bike is the exhilaration of feeling young for a little while. We all know what a real biker reunion looks like but I think the add nailed how it makes us feel. I want to be cool like those young people not all creaky like I feel most of the time. I like the look of the bike but I'm too big for it. My rocket fits me.

I would much rather see a full dresser ROCKET with all the bells and whistles and maybe even a fifty or better slightly overweight guy sitting on it. With the caption "After riding the other options"

I do miss all my Harley comforts. I too would like to see Triumph compete with the cruiser market. Starting with a huge comfy seat. A full upper and lower fairing would be nice with electronic windshield similar to the Indian shield and a thumpin' sound system. If they put all that together they wouldn't be able to make them fast enough. I love my r3t but it isn't a true comparison to a Touring bike be it a Godwin or an Ultra.

Triumph tried to pit the Rockets against Harley...and what they found was that the Rockets occupy their own niche. For better or worse the Rockets are their own beast! It was also found the Thunderbirds were more able to sway Harley buyers. But I suspect if I were marketing Triumphs, I wouldn't try to steal anyone else's customers. I would reckon Triumph buyers are a particular kind of cognoscenti...they choose Triumph because nothing else is what Triumph is for them. That's an important distinction.

And I reckon the bonnie bobber will sell, because it looks the part, and in this day of instant gratification you can have your bobber all decked out and ready to go if you like. I'd buy one, but more importantly I bet my 17 year old nephew would too, and that's the customer that Triumph would like to groom for many more years of sales.

I guess lm a weird type of Harley guy then. When I bought my rocket I was researching how to make the Harley more powerful. It can be done but after dumping more than 10 grand into an S&S motor you still are around what the rocket makes stock and you haven't dealt with primary or clutch issues yet.

They cannot make the new watercooled Bonnies & Thruxtons fast enough already, still a wait in the UK for them.

My deposit is paid, I am on the waiting list for a Bobber, delivery is supposed to be March.
That will give me some more time to mess with my 994 Bonnie special & Thruxton 'R'
The Rocket & couple of BMW's are surplus to requirements now,
as this 64 year old hipster has changed priorities.
The new 1200's are nice bikes, but it is a chore having too beat the babes off with a stick.

A stock rocket with just a pipe and air intake will make 165 + HP to the rear wheel and the S&S engines will not make that kind of power

THE babes love the ROCKET so much I have to carry a mattress on my back LOL
