Trip and clock reset

When I shut the bike off, the trip counter and the clock reset back to zero. I just got the bike with 28 thousand on it so I'm not sure of all the little details yet. I find this a bit odd that it does that. Also, how accurate is the fuel gauge on these. I rode 120 miles today and it was showing just under half a tank on the gauge. All help is appreciated.

Try tàking the assembly off and disconnected wiringit just unplugs and check for corrosion.Put some di-electric grease on the contacts and reassemble hopefully this will fix the problem.

The fuel gauge on our bikes is a topic of many discussions. I like having it and say mine is pretty close to accurate. But many are somewhat off. When I ride the highways, I can get 195 to 200 miles with half a gallon left. The gauage will drop to empty at times around 180 though. In town riding I get 150 to 160 miles with half a gallon left; the gauge will show empty around 135-145. Bottom line is experiment with your particular bike and keep a few notes on what the gauge show you verses what you put in when you fill up.
