Tried Darkside -Ate the Cookie-Returned

Toyo is the only DS that I have heard of rubbing the sidewall and like Hellfire said it HAD TO BE the psi.
The only negative that I can think of is at walking speed.

Every time you hear of some one (including me) running on the sidewall it is always the Toyo and it is pressure related the Toyo Proxes T1R which have a 280 wear rating (one of the softest tyres available) has to be inflated at least 3-4 psi more than other DS tyres due to thier softer sidewalls and I found the balance was to not go quite so high to maintain the ride quality I have done 15,000 klm's and while I occasionly see a slight marking there is no actual wear on the side wall in fact you can still read the fine print on the sidewall ifyou look carefully you can still see the writing is still intact

u mean yours only goes at walking speed

Bought my bike with a dark side tire, hated every minute of it and switched out within 500 miles. The roads around here have a very pronounced crown and I was constantly in a turn just to go straight, very tiring. There's also a particular road near my house with pretty deep ruts and the bike would get very squirly riding through it, dangerously so. I doubt this is as big of an issue elsewhere (we have some of the worst roads on the planet) but may be a factor if you live in snow country in a state that awards contracts to the lowest bidder regardless of materials used.

I tried DS for two years and never got used to it. I like to steer the bike not the other way round. Experimented with air pressure but just prefer the much lighter steering and general nimbleness of the bike tires.

Thanks very much guys for the experience based "tooing and froing" .
This is exactly what i hoped for. I'm grateful that this thread hasn't descended into a stoush.

There you have it Ish, pros and cons.
What it ultimately comes down to is YOU.
how YOU ride, where you do your riding,
your roads, your life, and what YOU are willing and wanting to do.
For me, I like it. It's not even the money although $330.00
every 4,000-6,000 miles is a lot of green to shell out for a hobby I enjoy.
Looking at it from that standpoint, I'd have went through 5 metzs in the mileage
this $100.00 tire has made so far with about half it's life still in it.
Over 16 hundred dollars so far I've saved, and half the tread left.....
Something to consider I guess should a man not be rolling in dough..
