Tried Darkside -Ate the Cookie-Returned

Actually, I think it was a good question if posed as not pros/cons but "has anyone gone dark side and decided to go back, and if so, why" -- I am a DS candidate and would like that perspective too, if it exists at all.
 
lets see, you're looking for comments from guys who went back
to a motorcycle tire after trying the darkside...
That leaves me out, I'll never go back.
Best $110.00 I ever spent.
Over 20,000 miles on it now, two trips to North Carolina in and through the mountains,
including up and down the tail of the Dragon a couple of times,
and every other twisty road scowherd could find.
Same tire will make the same trip next year from all indications, Lord willing.
Still plenty of tread left and I don't cut it much slack.
How many miles you getting on a metz? At what cost?
Art (imfast2) is the only one I know of that gets phenomenal mileage from a metz
and swears by them,
most other guys, not so much.....
EDIT:
Now that I think about it,
there was one captain from Texas a couple of years ago that switched back.
He probably didn't find his sweet spot on the air pressure before changing back,
I don't recall the details, but he did go back.
So yes, it's happened at least once..
but out of how many of us that have tried it and been satisfied?

I would not go back to a motorcycle tire.
My comfort and confidence on a dark side is so much more that I scare myself, honest.
 
I went DS on the R3T along with my brother who has a Nomad; He ran it about 50 miles in the Georgia woodstock area and did not like it and immediately changed back to MC. He said that it felt like the back of the bike was on a hinge and drove like one of those firetrucks with the driver in the rear...adjusted his press up to 50psi and just didn' like the feel at any pressure.
I have about 7500 miles on my DS and am use to all the differences..went to MV and could keep up with all.(I was the limiting factor).The only thing I don't like is the slow speed on uneven roads; seems to have a mind of its own.However, I think it would be a toss up if I lived in the mountains and had many squirlys to contend with as I think the constant leaning would be a little tiring (no pun intended) after a while.
But for those of you who have not tried it...well if you don't, you'll always wonder!!

There are many reasons to go over to the darkside. The least of which is canyon carving. I'dnt,magin there's no southern fried chicken strips are on your plate

I used a soft 280 tread wear compound fatty and enjoyed the massive boost in off the line air time. Curently, I have strayed back into the lighter side. Im trying a set of Cobras. If Cobras can get me mileage of a Zeon 2XS fatty ill be somewhat inclined.
 
I'll never go back to a motorcycle tire on my R3. I'm running a toyo 245/50/16 with no problems at all. Does it feel a little different than a motorcycle tire? Yes a little. To me the R3 was made for a car tire. Would I put a car tire on my other bikes? Hell no!! The R3 is a terible bike for carving mountains, if I want to carve mountains I take a different bike.
 
I no longer try to explain it. I just point to the plate holder from Deal's Gap and say I bought that at the Inn riding that bike with that tire.
