Transmission Fun The One Thing I Hate

I have to say, my transmission shifted pretty nicely most of the time, generally smooth and easy effort, even with the bent forks and fubar gears. AMSOIL for the bikes whole life besides the first fill.

This image may make the significance of the first more apparent:

And mine once more:

No subtlety about you, there Art.
Must be the rider. And I am a fat f*ck, too.

The transmission sucks. The transmission sucks.
No, really it sucks.
Dude don't mind Art he is ONE GRUMPY HOMBRE And his bikes are always perfect and never break Even when they are at the shop getting worked on Anyway I have a 06 , and 07 like yours and some saddle time on the roadster. The transmission on the roadster does shift a bunch easier. Maybe they changed some of the sliding tolerances. Its hard figuring without tearing the 2011 transmission I have apart along with a older one to compare. I will also not since the roadster shifts much better I have noticed shifting dogs getting bent since the roadster which is something you never heard of in the older days when bikes needed updated trans work.

On a side note for humor you should have seen me shoving my heal into the pavement on the roadster looking for the heal shift After having over 70,000 miles on floor boards I would guess it looked kind of funny

THEN your not a FAT F*k OK so then you have a bad one because our bikes shift great so lets find out whats wrong with yours
HA no Im a real charmer and if your trans doesnt shift properly its not normal as they normally shift fine I had a detent spring break on my 09 Classic and my 2012 roadster does shift even smoother as do all the newer ones I ve tested

Well, I have an answer of the problem.

The tech thinks one of the forks was installed with a twist from the factory. Says the one fork has excessive face wear on one side of the fork, but only on one leg of it, and that you can see the twist if you put it on a flat table and test it.

Bonus, the tech is badass, and replaced the stator (preventative since its already apart), shift drum, all forks, in/out shafts, both sides of 2nd gear, and the other worm dogs, plus shift actuator, retention spring, and a few other small bits.

I'd say they have definitely gone above and beyond what was required!

It's great to know there are still some out there that care about the customer. Cheers to the tech

I don't think there is anything wrong with the transmission.
I just don't like the way it shifts. It's a 2008 that had the Update kit installed

The linkage has a lot to do with it, which might be why the roadster tends to feel a little better.
