Based on mileage and proper clutch adjustment it sounds like the tire is wearing out. Is the 5K miles the total miles on the bike? You killed the OEM Metzler under 5K? Did you try putting the bike into 3rd or 4th gear, sitting still and slowly releasing the clutch? If the clutch is OK it should stop the engine right away.
 
Yeah, it passes all the normal checks, no clutch slip in 5th at 2k full throttle, and that's pretty much the highest strain scenario on a clutch ID think.

Just ordered an Avon....good gawd I hope this fixes what's going on, because, it's not at all confidence inspiring.

If it does fix it, I'm just going to give the G852 to a buddy that owns a M109.

NO the highest strain is at max HP in 5th gear more like 5500-6000 rpm
