Trailering the RIII

Sorry if this has been covered before; I didn't find much while searching.
I've never trailered my RIII before. However I'll be taking it with me on some motorhome excursions, in an enclosed trailer.

Looking for advice for tying her down. Some folk suggest securing low enough to not involve the suspension, other people suggest otherwise. The front fork shields make me think securing below the suspension on the RIII probably doesn't work, leaving the lower triple tree as the most likely spot.

I appreciate any input. :)
the very best system bar none is the harley davidson hold down system sold by S&S frame holder ( see the video)with 2 plates 5 inches long added to the center "frameholder"to hold on the two holes in the r3 your rocket can be held down with no straps and no compression. I used that system and it is solid as a rock I carry this in the back of my truck and no straps are required and I do not change my driving habits either the parts that fit the frame of a harley are not used on the rocket just two steel bars connecting the frame to the round bottom bar . if you need pictures let me know and I will post some . here is the link Home all I did was to cut two pieces of steel drilled two holes one for the rocket frame the other for the round bar that locks everything across the hold down bracket once the bar is placed across the bracket absolutely nothing move and you can lock the hold down bracket !! they originally had a video where they showed a bike mounted on that system and they rotated the whole caboodle 360 degrees at one point the bike,s wheels are horizontally lined up with the ground and still nothing moved one inch!! you can also install this in your garage nobody will ever be strong enough to steal your beast believe it.

Me too...the whole idea of a trailer queen just turns my stomach...though I know there may be practical reasons to do it.

Yeah, kinda bugs me, but I can't put as many people onto the back of my RIII as I can in the RV. :)

Some great entries on this list so far gents, thanks as always.

I plan on spending the winters in mexico from canada I am looking at nearly 3500 miles one way so carrying the bike in the back of the truck makes sense

I can't wait to get my retirement 5th wheel. My wife and I bought the truck already a 2016 F350 dually. We are going to get a 5th wheel with a dedicated garage for us to put the bikes once the truck is paid off. We will see the country Walmart to Walmart and taking the time to explore on our bikes. Ahhh. Livin' the dream man.

My buddy tours around with his wife and 3 kids with a toy hauler/trailer with the 5th wheel. skidoo races in winter, dirtbike races in summer. Pretty sweet setup, surprising amount of room in them.
