Touring problems

I have an 08 touring and I notice the top of the ignition switch and my keys get pretty hot. I don't know if this is from engine heat or wiring; so I keep my light bar off until I install a relay.
Can the folks with the newer touring bikes verify the heat near the ignition ?

Thanks guys for the info, it seems the ignition switch may not be as much of a problem as the Roadster might run into (dual headlights) but I will keep in mind the relay fix and may make that happen as an after purchase item.

The heated grips concern me as I like to have them on a bike (I have had them on my two Gold Wings, my first Rocket (Classic), Thunderbird and the Harley). Despite what Dave (Scot in Exile) says I like my inside of my hands warm when I ride in very cold weather and in north Florida that does happen at times.

Rayjay, I need to get back to London but I haven't the foggiest idea when.

My credit union that I work at (Navy Federal) is planning on opening a branch office in Djibouti and I'm game but there is a lot of interest (the others have no idea what they are getting into) so don't know if I'll be selected or not...that may be my ticket to visiting London.

Again thanks for the info, I appreciate all the input and well wishes that have been expressed here.

Hi Dennis, I have a 09 touring and the ignition switch went at 28000km. Enjoy your new bike.

I have a 2010 Touring with 23000+ miles, no problems.

I have a 2013 R3T and have had no ignition switch problems. I have had a heated grip that was installed after purchase (Triumph) break. They replaced it under warranty but I am hesitant to use it now for fear of it breaking again.

I had the heated grips break, so I went with the Kuryakyn ISO Grips

Also, I have 25k miles on an '08 and no ignition issues....

Ditto on the Heated Grips Their Junk

I agree on the heated grips. Mine broke at the cable connector on the throttle tube with only 1400 on the bike...Replaced with Avon Grips.. Would not trust putting another pair of Triumph's heated grips back on bike after being stranded at night for about 3 hrs waiting for a tow.
