Torn Up but Not for Long

The shop that is doing the work is a competent motor builder and they but they have never torn down a Rocket. They told me they were going to buy a service manual. They did say it was the tightest toughest motor they had ever pulled. It will be a learning experience for them. The Dealer wanted nothing of the job.

Would they be able to degree the cams if the block was still in the frame?
Why didn't you send them the manuals in my signature?

Yep - mine were dialed in with the motor still in the frame

Why pull the motor for pistons and cams?
Pull the head
Pull the sump etc
Pull the Connecting rod caps and extract pistons
All while engine is still fitted - Unless you are doing some transmission work too.

It's funny I was just wondering if the pistons could be changed that way:cool:

Ok been starring at a manual not the newest but enough to make me ask. Can you have the shop show you where it says to remove the engine to pull the head or change the pistons. The first place I run into as I go thru the book that says remove the motor from the frame is the crankshaft section which makes sense seen how you have to split the motor. Then again it says you have to remove the engine to work on the transmission obvious as again you need to split the motor. Anyway just trying to figure out what I'm missing here .
