I should have known who'd revive this old thread!

About 1600 miles on the Toyo now and me likee. It shows zero wear. I am slasmming through the twisties now with semi-reckless abandon and the compound really hooks to the road like the tire and the pavement are made of velcro!

Even Art (IFT) said it was "rideable" after he took it on a short jog. From him, that is a glowing endorsement., though it is a lead pipe cinch bet that you'll never see him running a square tire.

I thought he said a tricycle tire would be better but I think he said otherwise.
Even peter DeCarlo who called me today and we talked about him trying to ride one in Daytona. "He said he is a accomplished rider but he could not wait to get of that Rocket with the car tire on it."

So its 1 week and about 400 miles on the 225/55 Toyo Proxes T1R.
Dropped the pressure from 32 to 29 and it feels better.
I've ridden mostly in heavy traffic on Rt 78 so far.
The superior braking alone is worth the funky low speed handling.
Stops like my Subaru STi now
Still warming up to steep lean angles.
Gotta ride with Triumph Phil in the twisties to compare notes.
Mebbe 'next' weekend.

BAD HANDLING and LOSS OF HP

Dropped the pressure from 32 to 29 and it feels better.
I've ridden mostly in heavy traffic on Rt 78 so far.

YOU talk about stopping ability so explain how the tire stops the bike better when 85% of the braking is done by the front tire when you stop the weight of the bike transfers forward an anyone whos road raced knows you barely touch your rear brake when stopping hard so these stories of phenominal braking are fiction and there is no way that a car tire running 29PSI is anything but a liability ruining the handling and draining HORSEPOWER

YES I hope we get some good riding in this weekend and you guys can demonstrate your skills with those AUTO TIRES I spoke to PETER from TRIUMPH he also told me of his experience with th CT shod R3 he said said it was horrible and he couldnt wait to get off the thing not to mention he said TRIUMPH will not honor the warranty if you have a CAR TIRE on your bike

There are about 10 or more that are running the Riken Raptor. I, too, run the 225/55R16. With over 13,000 miles on it, it still looks brand new. I would have gone through 2 Metz by now.

Here's a view of it in action on the Tail of the Dragon last month.

IMF, I think the flat, big contact patch of the Car Tire allows the rear brake to contribute more than the usual 15%. It definitely stops faster. I always used front and rear brakes to stop, but with the CT, the rear really pulls it down, and with NO lockup.

Work is a *****, I'm behind in a current project and have to work extra hr, including weekends, so it will be a while. I'm just being a bit of a sissy leaning her hard.
I had no such problem with the bike tire. It's psychological
