Top 3 CTs for the R3

Tdragger, is that not S directly in front of you. The cowherd from KY?
I run the225 /50. Its about 0.25 less in the total radius of the a stocker Metz. I compensate with a Tuneboy. And it runs right on! Its also about a total 1/2" lesser in width. Plenty of wiggle room. I believe the 245/50 will come close to 1/8" and no more clearances on neither the shaft nor the swing arm.

Yeah, Steve was slowing me down.

Mighty curious handle, but I'll bite

Now, that's more like it, people. Good info... and appreciated by the, as yet, uninitiated (yours truly)

HeR3tic, the same could be said for your handle... are you man, woman or beast? LOL:)

As I posted in my intro thread, I am between bikes at the moment as some numbnut totalled my latest and 2nd VTX (hence the XHombre, or "XMan" tag)about a month ago. I have decided to kick it up a notch and buy the "teaburner" (said with great affection for all things Brit, esp. their women) aka the R3.

Am I correct in my understanding that the 225/55 16 is closest to the stock 240 MT in geometry and that it is the best size for correcting the speedo variation? Anyone have some feedback on the Potenzas, which I ran on the Honda?

Joker, that carbon fiber rear tin is twisted looking. Where can a bloke find that and at what cost?

Has anyone set up a survey of who's running what CT and to determine almost exactly how many folks on this site have gone over to the Darkness? I am not that savvy or I'd set it up myself. If it hasn't been done here before, it sure would be interesting!

I'd be curious if anyone knows the specs (width) of both the Riken Raptor and the Eagle F1 in 245/50 size. Some guys have complained of a little rubbing from the Eagle and one in particular switched from the Eagle to the Riken in the same size and the rubbing disapeared. I sure hope this Eagle works, the thing looks awsome sitting next to the bike, the tread pattern is so **** cool looking.
It's a very "gummy" tire compound too, should be really sticky. (I like sticky ;))

I've read a few posts describing some disappointment in tires that advertise a "rounded" profile like the Cooper Zeon. It also has a wide center rib which some report that it tracks pavement grooves. The Riken has a very narrow center rib and doesn't have the tracking problem.

The Riken seems to have the largest following right now and the 225/55 is the closest in spec to the stock 240/50 without being smaller. It does correct the speedo slightly and, at least for me, seems to improve gas mileage slightly. I'm a cheap bastard so that's important to me.

No doubt that the Goodyear has a badass looking tread pattern.

The Goodyear has a 280 rating whereas the Riken has a 300. Both are really sticky but as I can atest, the Riken is wearing quite well for me at 13k and still looking brand new.

The Toyo also has a large following, moreso across the pond.

You can go to Discount Tires From Cooper Tires, Falken Tires & More. and key in the size and view a list of all the major players.

Back in VTXLand, the Honda Darksiders were very high on the Goodyear Triple Tread and the Michelin Hydroedge. They were in the top 3 for the X with the other tire being the B'stone Potenza with most common size to replace the OEM 180 MT being a 205/55 16. Are the TTT and Hydro not available in a size that will work on a Rocket rim?

The TTT is available in a 225/55 but the treadwear rating is a rock hard 740!

The real question is, what is important to you?

Narrow tire vs. Big Fatty?

Treadwear Ratings?

Extreme Handling?

Cost?

Looks?

What do you have in mind?

If you are looking at a Std Roc, then your lower limit is practically a 205 width. In that you would need at least a 60 series to have it not be too small in diameter.

Some people run a 215/60 with success.

The 225/55 is the closest to stock without being smaller. Plus it handles well.

235/50 or 235/55 gives you a slightly fatter look but requires more steering effort.

245/50 is for Fatty lovers who want to show off the meat!!
