Hi everyone, I think I have the same problem as many others...

1/ I like the Cobra Chrome, but it's become impossible to find.

2/ I really want to fit the Exedra in 240/55/17, but:

3/ European standards require a maximum 3% difference when changing tire size, and the 240/55 is +24mm in diameter (out of tolerance). Okay, that's fine (load and speed rating are ok)... but:

4/ Fitting a front tire like the Dunlop or Michelin with a lower speed/load rating than the original is, in my opinion, downright dangerous and could lead to major insurance problems in the event of a crash...

So, I'm forced to fit Cruisetec... (and I really don't like that tire on my Challenger!)

on 2/ the 240 section is the rear surely, but 16" not 17" ? I've known these fitted and it is said to correct the speedometer error ?

The 3% allowance is for circumference of the tyre, on a 16" tyre, 240/55/16 is 3.58% larger in circumference than the 240/50/16, therefore affecting the final drive ratio accordingly. It's anybody's guess if that 0.58% would be picked up on testing or examination in the event of an accident.

Knowing how insurance companies are SO expert in not paying out at the slightest whiff of an excuse, my opinion is - Just stay with the OEM size tyres. If Cobra Chrome are hard to find in your area, Mezeler now produce two tyres, try the Crusetec ?

Yes, I was wrong, the Exedra 2 is indeed 240/55/16"...

As I wrote earlier I wanted to avoid the Cruisetec which I have on another bike and which I don't find great but, unfortunately, I'm afraid I won't have much choice.

Maybe on another bike they will be more suitable, I will say a prayer to Saint Tire !

I run the Cruisetec on the front and the Exedra on the back. I ride it HARD and I've got no complaints.

Bridgestones front and back with 150/80/17 and 240/55/16 no regrets because rear half inch high off the ground better turning radius!

Hw does it tip in with the bigger tyres? Easier, harder or much the same?

Can't say I can see any issues with the rear fender clearance, though it's hard to tell from the pics.

I don’t understand tip in question, but if you meant lining the bike from side to side it’s noticeably better turning radius better on tight spaces I like how it feels more than original tires! No issues with rear mudguard did No modifications but space between mudguard and rear tire is only about 5mm!

The larger rear effectively shortens the rake making handling quicker (turn in easier). The fender mod is super easy to do and recommended. I keep it well below 130 mph so the rating is fine on the other front tires. Fender mod below….

I think the 240 Avon Cobra Chrome is a goner. No mas, extinct. With the UK motorcycle plant closing down time to make other arrangements. I would assume although I dig the tire and wish it wasn't true, Avon won't make them anymore. I have been looking for a few months and they are truly...

I prefer cobras as well but what issues you are facing with Cruisetec on rocket 3R ? its coming from factory on new rockets. Have you found any issues in cornering or something else?
