Ah yes, but NOT the OEM engine!
I had a 53 Chev with a slightly modified 235 straight 6, Hurst linkage, split exhaust manifold, larger intake and carb(s), that could prune the flat head Fords in my town!

Never was a flat head fan even the Mercury 100HP was only a good old slugger , The 272 Y blocks were a bit better especially the 312 Thunderbird motor, I had plenty of Y blocks in Customlines over the years but once bigger motors became available/cheaper, engine transplants happened in my Dads big farm shed FE 352s and 390s were to go but later on the Cleveland became the motor of choice for us Ford Guys as they fitted the Customlines/Victorias ect like they were made for them and easy and cheap to get 400 reliable horsepower, the Chev 6s were reliable one of the concrete agitators around here had one as a power unit to rotate the drum and it went for many years

Funny I been thinking about selling my baby too and getting an Explorer so I can go on the fire trails for a bit of hunting ....... But then I go out and take "the Mistress" for a spin and well that ain't ever goner happen!

And don't be a stranger between now and when you get a Rocket a again
Cheers
Hans
I too have that itch (Buying an adventure bike) But NOT selling the rocket - ever

Im with you Mittzy. A long run to the cape sounds like a grand adventure but never at the expense of the beast.

I had a 1970 Ford Ranchero with the 351 Cleveland.
Black with yellow and orange flames over the front end.
Twas a good reliable engine and pretty darn fast.
Used it to haul my race bikes to the tracks. :inlove
