speaking of lens.
Anybody know what melts them?
I'm wanting to build my own.
Take some old red ones and make my own, for better turn signals.
i've looked around and can't find anything I like, so I figure, what the heck, make what I want..
i figure there's something out there, lacquer thinner, something, that will turn them back into liquid plastic,
where I can shape them like I want, and let them re-harden.

Skip - think they're they're thermosetting plastics. Normally NOT solvent dissoluble. Heat MAY allow you deform one.

So by thermosetting, i assume they're taking a resin or polymer base
and heating it in a mold or cast to get the shape they want..
Bound to be some chemical that releases it I would have thought.
Thanks, the search continues I suppose...

That or it's granules heated in a pressure casting mould - I was watching a documentary on the company LEGO last week. Interesting. Injection molding is pretty much standard for small high volume parts. Casting is far more time consuming - ok for low volume or higher cost. Alot of automotive parts are marked as resistant to solvents too. ACETONE generally melts stuff.

Changing the rear set out for something different and made in metal is a piece of cake - It's mounting the front pair that's more of a bugger - though hardly world shattering.

Yeah ,I know but Im a slack bastard and I dont hate them that much ,just hate them when I look at them close.
