Thunderbird seat on rocket roadster

@Ralsmith your factory Accessory Triumph Dual seat is a GEL seat version with that rubbery smooth black vinyl, either a A9701140 or A9701141 from early days in 2005/6 Accessory catalogs. It is possibly the TOURING GEL SEAT - DUAL A9701141 with the deeper cushion.

I think the other two below without the GEL and rubbery vinyl actually have wider pillion pads too and were not available until later in 2007/ 8 when the Classics were released. This is similar with the Solo Rider and separate pillion seats too. The early pillion pads were horrible narrow loaves of bread. The later Pillion seats are wider like the later Dual seat versions and were continued through to the latest 2019 Roadsters.

Your interchangeable under-seat air duct appears to have come from the seat with a riders backrest hole, CLASSIC TOURING SEAT - DUAL A9701164.

The Triumph seat part numbers are very confusing as they often appear to use the same stock original seat pans with the generic part numbers molded in which is upholstered and covered differently to make a different part and part number was then assigned which may only appear on the paper labels. Many or most of us remove the air ducting when we fit K&N or RamAir and then they get reattached for passing on to a new owner.

How much and does it come with a rear mount spike bracket?


Seat does not come with rear spike bracket, does not seem to impact functionality. Seat locks in on front key spike and does not move even with pillion passenger. These seats were $460 new if you can find one, I think $200 plus shipping is fare price as this is in excellent condition, no tears, scrapes or dents in seat.
 
Looking for a long haul seat but unable to find any rocket specific ones. Would a thunderbird one fit?... Wife wants a wider and softer seat.

She will not like Corbin initially if she seeks softer as they are very hard but that is actually what makers them comfortable long distance. They provide support across your whole bum so your sitz bone points in your pelvis do not press down on a soft surface more and eventually get sore and inflamed as they are bearing the bulk of your weight. A hard and wide seat which provides support across your whole bum reduces the load on your sitz bone contact points.

Get one but explain first before she takes her first mount.

The Corbin Duals did come with a clunky and very annoying bolt on bracket instead of a rear spike. Most riders got fed up and left them off. The seats are so heavy and lock down on front anyway. These are at least 3x times the weight of stock factory Dual seats. Super heavy duty fibreglass seat pans and very heavy special HD density foam they inject onto the base with the bike specific high pressure molds. The finished seats are then trimmed and upholstered. They are great long distance, long life seats.

That is either of the R3 Standard/Classic and Roadster fitting Gel seats below. The number A9701164 is the seat pan molding used for a number of differently upholstered and shaped dual R3 seats. I THINK the 'Touring' one below (released as an accessory before the 2008 R3Touring model motorcycle existed), was a bit softer, thicker and rider's seat wider with a 'pinched waist' before pillion pad. Many of the Triumph seats have up to 5 different or repeated numbers stamped and as stickers on their bases.
