Guys,

I'm thinking that the radiator sides and top pieces are plastic chrome... Anyone see any problems with scratching them with fine paper and spraying them flat black?

I see no reason to spend good money to buy new black ones when a few coats will do the job. They don't seem to get hot=I assume B/C they are plastic they are not a part which would need to be heat treated or anything.

Anyway any and all thoughts are appreciated! It is my first step to a black/black/black roadster.

PS: Maybe the bearclaw is next ;)

BLASPHEMY, we have a heretic in our midst...............oh yeah, we already have one of those. I would be worried about the bond between the paint and the plastic. Sounds feasible enough. The BEARCLAW? Really? As long as your name is on the check, have at it and take pictures.

Radiator and bearclaw blacked out

Hi all

I have had the radiator and bearclaw blacked out for sometime and it has worked out well and i like the look over standard. Also got rid of the Triumph badge on the front mudguard. i have tried to attache photos so lets see what happens.

I found a set of new black covers in the UK last week at half price. Couldn't resist.

Like the black bearclaw - looking to see If I can find one s/hand - in readiness for the 3 filter cut. Black will make it easier.

Oe - Guy ,

Go to advanced auto store ( old discount auto )
Get some dupi- color spray
Adhesion Promotor
Clean chrome radiator parts with alcohol
Then spray with adhesion promotor
Goes on wet looking like light aluminum spray
paint dries clear , then just spray on your black paint
Advantage:
No scratching chrome plastic paint
Black paint can be removed , later if you wish
Brought back to stock with no scratches any where

Also can use adhesion promotor on other plastic chrome stuff
Buy dupi color chrome paint & or anodized paint , an it looks
exactly this good

YouTube - Duplicolor MetalCast Paint - ANODIZED COLOR

So using it does look good

I did the flat black on my Roadster. I painted an off color fly screen, the radiator shroud, and the bear claw. I used automotive enamel with their etching primer on all parts. Worked great. Easy job.
Good luck
