Them Storms are hot, I'm thinkin' I NEED one.

Been debating on getting a new R3, Not that I'd ever let loose of the Triclops,
but dang them new Storm GT's are lookin good.
Anybody got one yet? Wonder how they compare to the 140 Lb of Torque we have now?
180 is better than 140, 2500 is better than 2300, extra gear too....
I'm thinkin one might be in my future....

Any reviews? Personal experiences?

Let me know cause $25K is alot to drop if it ain't money well spent.

I would browse fb marketplace to buy one or two years old bike with under 1000 miles for 18000$ and Panera tune basically free! If all about budget!! 599 miles on bike Kokomo Indiana! Dealer with all fee and interest rate and all will run you easy 30k$! But color scheme and wheel design is superb on storm I like a lot! But if you want to save your self 10k$ 2023 year old bike is much smarter and economical way at least was for me back in 2021! Any way you go you will love it and not doing to regrade!! I was originally planing buy Xdiavel Ducati and sale rep pushing me towards testing r3r after Xdiavel test ride thx to him I’m on R3GT since 2021! But dealership did not want to go on my condition and after months off searching I bought off the private seller and save myself a $

I have owned 6 total rockets the last 19 years...3 of the 2300 variant and now 3 of the 2500 variant. Latest one is the Storm I just bought a few weeks ago...ALL of them were awesome bikes and the jump to the 2500 felt like triumph bumped this bike up about 20 notches...the old 2300 was fine but had some chinsy parts on it and long bolts here and there...again, not a big deal, just comparing old to new.

that being said I really like the Storm ALOT. The R riding position is MUCH better than the GT version for me...just prefer it. The power is the same as a penner tuned 2500 so unless you MUST have the storm, you can save probably 8-10k by buying a used 2500R version and getting the penner tune.

Another must have for me on the 2500 has been the quickshifter...crazy that triumph does not include that on the storm...especially for the price. That really transforms the bike into a total animal...hope this helps.

Why have you had 3 of the 2.5s in just 5 years?

I would echo almost everything he said. I found a super low miles 2022 R. It had 900 miles on it. It was at a Harley dealer and they really didn't know what to do with it. I negotiated very hard got a heckuva deal. Based on what they wanted to sell me a new Storm for and the one I picked up, I saved over $14k! I do like the wheel better on the Storm but not for an extra $14k.

I promptly took some of the savings and bought the heated grips, quick shifter, Verex muffler, Android Tablet, and an OBD connector to install the Penner tune. Based on my back-of-the-napkin math, I am still about $12,500 ahead of a buying a Storm. So I took my savings and bought another bike that I was originally debating buying a new Rocket or it. So buying the pristine used Rocket kept my outlay low enough to buy both and keep my wife off my back since I stayed under my original budget. So a win-win in my book.

These guys all have valid points about earlier models although if you want a new Storm then get it. Don't settle just to save some money (a lot of money). You may regret not buying what you want. I may get one myself. Besides my job I mow Dr. D's lawn once a week so $5.00 a week, $20.00 a month, $240.00 a year. It may take a while.

My XDiavel was a fun bike but I have to say I like the Rocket better. Stock for stock, the XDiavel is quicker then a 2.5l Rocket and handles better. The 2.5 Rocket with a tune is a bit quicker than the XDiavel so the Storm likely will be as well if that matters. How they go about their business is why I like the Rocket to much. The XDiavel is fairly strong down low but nothing like the Rocket. The XDiavel really comes alive at about 7k RPM as it has a very nice top end pull.

Owning the XDiavel is the reason why I went with the R rather than the GT version of the Rocket. Those forward footpegs on the Ducati along with limited rear suspension travel helped me understand that combination is not good for your spine. WIth the mid pegs I could support my body over the bigger bumps rather than having them compress my spine directly. Yes, I could add mid pegs to the GT but overall the cost was less for me to go with the R, add the heated grips I wanted from the GT (may not need in your area) and call it a day. The stock GT windscreen would have been swapped out with something more for cold weather riding so that didn't matter and buy not paying for it in the first place I bought a better one for my R when I need it. You may want the more rearward bars of the GT which isn't cheap to do to the R, but I like my current seating position but I bought a seat of "bar backs" I can easily put in for about $100 that will make it more like the GT if I needed.

One thing I love about the Rocket in general is that it is a big, but not massive, bike. So when you put a big person on it, or carry a passenger, the performance isn't affected as much. Adding 80 extra pounds to a 650 pound bike has less of an effect than adding it to a 550 pound bike.

I had a 2016 Rocket. I really can't believe how much better the new ones are. I'd ride my old Rocket occasionally but there were so many obvious compromises with it. My 2022 Rocket is the bike I ride the most by far. It is very good at so many things that it replaced my normal daily rider of either my Africa Twin or Multistrada and those are pretty great daily riders. I think Triumph really got the total package of the Rocket right and the Storm unlocks the power they had bottled up.
