The Official Rocket Across America IV Thread

Thanks pig9r I will put together a agenda for the short rides once I recieve additional feedback from the group on the routes. I will continue to update if room availibility changes.

I was just going thought the packing list for items we should bring. Bringing the motorcycle was kind of a no brainer, but what kind of gun should I bring.

The items on the list are definitely optional.... But I am from Kentucky and don't go many places without a gun. Never know when the revolution is going to start.

Alrighty... Reservations are made.

I am thinking about going up there early on Friday and going to ghost town. I would be leaving from south of Atl around 8am to avoid traffic, getting to maggie valley around noon. Anyone else interested in riding up with me from that Atlanta area or meeting up there? I contacted the hotel and they said that if I got there early they would probably go ahead and let me get in the room early or atleast have somewhere to put the luggage so I wouldn't have to worry about it at ghost town.

xdhskip has a very very appropriate commemorative pin design for RAAIV rendezvous. I encourage all to encourage skipper to make his creation available for viewing. I would have, but I have no skill in copy and pasting.

I made a suggestion to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway section beginning just west of Maggie Valley then on to the Dragon and ending on the Hellbender 28. I have absolutely no idea what is along any of the sections. If you have a short route plan for Saturday then bring it on. You're doing an awesome job of making this plan happen. thanks. I'd like to do the BRP and pause for a while in Cherokee to go through the museum and leaving out and completing the dragon and hellbender and back to MV well before sunset. How might this be possible? Perhaps there is enough group interest in the Cherokee Museum to warrant investigating a group discount and a tour guide?

that sounds good for the short route I will add to the short agenda. I will research a lunch stop in Cherokee that way you will have time to enjoy the museum and those riding the long route will be able to ride the Blue Ridge parkway leg of the ride together. Any suggestions on roads you want to hit on Sunday please let me know. I will incorporate in to the short route agenda and make it were we can ride part of the way as a group. I will contact the museum and see if I can work out a discount I have heard good things.

There have been talks about a patch for this event.... There is a place near me that will do them.. If someone comes up with a design, I will print it out and see how much they want. The more patches, the cheaper per patch. It's a $40 fee just to turn the drawing into a patch, I dunno how much the patch will be if they do it. I'm guessing around $5 total per patch (that's figuring 20 or 30 people want them), but I won't know until I submit a design. I was thinking, a map of the USA w/a rocket going across and IV under it.... suggestions? Drawings would be great!!!

I've already got patches & pins being made.
I'll post a pic.
Don't know how to post it here, but its in my photo gallery.
If one of the more computer literate would like to do it, I'd be obliged.
I've ordered 50 pins and 50 of the patches.
I just hope everybody likes them.
As some will remember, I tried and tried to get patches and ideas for last years meet. I decided to just do it this year.
Hope it's ok with everybody.
