The Official Rocket Across America IV Thread

I called the Holiday today, they do still have rooms available for that weekend.

http://www.r3owners.net/members/her3tic.htmlHeR3tic, Thanks for the offer, my dad has a bum back and a bum knee, from a motorcycle wreck and a couple of car wrecks, he may take you up on that offer. I know he has a hard time sometimes. He actually dropped his rocket one time because his knee gave out (thanks to the engine guard, he didn't have a mark on it).

And, Yeah, the holiday has made every effort for us. I called them when I was looking at camping out and they called me back with info on near by rv sites and such. I've talked to them a couple of times on the phone and they seem great.

If we are doing the BBQ on sunday, J. Aruthrs Saturday night, what are we doing on Friday for chow?

What kinda drawing do you have for a patch HeR3tic? A friend told me of a place that did stuff like that, don't know if they would do a patch, but they do lettering on shirts and stuff.

A pin sounds good too though....

Anyway, HeR3tic, I'll get back with you later and let you know if my dad wants to trailer his bike... Thanks again for the offer.

If the 1980 in your user name is your y-o-birth, I can sympathize with you dad. I too had a few scraps at his age. The drawing is as I said only in pencil. It entails: RAAIV, FatBottomGirl (thanks to Britman for the name FBG). , III, and MV2009.

Friday chow, is at this point, up in the air. I've not read anything on the matter other than your inquiry.

Just to save some time going through all the 24 pages of threads, is this thing kicking off on Friday with everyone getting in on Thursday evening, or everybody showing up on Friday sometimes, checking in etc? Just trying to plan the time line.

At this point, I've heard of an 8-11 May rendezvous. Arriving sometime on Friday in Maggie Valley. Ride routes, feed bag gatherings, and diversions are still under considerations. So far there are supposedly 14 confirmed and four more wishy-washy captains I've yet to hear of Hombre committing to this gathering in his near back yard

There has been suggestions for more rendezvous for 2009, including a Fall RAAIV. But , I'm afraid communications will be down about that time.

From the best my memory will work....
I think we are planning on everyone meeting at 6pm friday at the Holiday..
We need to find something close by the holiday to eat at friday... They said they will have a bonfire on Sunday night, any chances of getting one friday and/or saturday too?
There was talk about riding throughout the day and some socializing in the evenings, a bonfire and stuff would be nice....

As for Friday Eve.
There is a place called Grizzly Grill Grizzly Grill Dinner Menu near by..... looks kinda fancy for my taste though...
and a place called Towne house Restaurant Arf's Restaurant in Maggie Valley, N.C. ... the food looks good in the pictures, but who knows...
and Salty Dog's Seafood Salty Dog's Seafood & Grill Maggie Valley NC I'm not sure about a seafood place no where near the ocean... I like my seafood fresh from the coast... but it may not be too bad.

Awww....hell, It don't matter to me, I didn't get to be 260lbs by being picky about food.

I am about the same way about food, as long as the quality matches the prices. 9 years eating MRE's and I am not that particular about what I eat. I am planning on heading up on Friday morning and leaving Sunday. Got to work Monday.

Someone mentioned doing 2 trips a year instead of one....

One in the fall and one in the spring.

Well, I was thinking, for a fall trip this year, we could ride to the Florida Keys...

What does everyone else think about this?

Would depend on when. Never been to the keys but going to Daytona in Oct for Biketoberfest. That would be a long ride for me. The furthest I have ridden in a day is Melbourne.
