Just what is the correct procedure for engine oil level check and step by step procedure of full oil change filter included ?

Sick of paying dealers and to many people with advice, who have not or do not own a R3

First step: locate a post by Bishop and download the Service Manual. It contains the pictures that you need to identify the drain plugs.

Oil Level Check (at least how I do it): Prior to having chocks and a lift table, I would sit on the bike, start and run it for about a minute and shut it off. With the bike vertical, reach down and remove the oil filler cap (pulls straight out with a little tug). Wipe the oil off and reinsert fully. Pull the oil filler cap out again and check the level.

Oil Change: best description is in the service manual. Nothing special about the procedure.

yep, that's how you do it, exactly as TDragger described.
To check it, stand her up.
to change it, hit all 3 plugs then filter.
fill her back up, stand her back up,
then check it after a short run cycle.

Make sure you are super careful with the thread on the oil drain holes.There isnt much thread there,so dont over tighten.(this is especailly crucial on the diff drain plug when you get around to tackling that)
Make sure you have some new washers from the dealer before you start.

I know this is an older post but I will only pay the dealer for the first time service. You can get in my wallet once like that but thats it. They told me it had to be done for the first time by the dealer for warranty purposes. So be it but that is it. They also told me to use Castrol only. I don't think so. I've used Mobil 1. for ever and never had a bit of trouble. The manual even refers to it.

I've had several new Harleys and all they told me was to document what I did and things would be fine. Just list the date - and brand of oil used. Go figure?
