The #1 reason why the r3t does not sell well

Yeah...just don't drop them. Besides once you get going the bike's weight fades away the faster you are going.

I likem...big bikes...most any bike can do 80-90 mph but not many with the "grunt" to get up and go, I like big engines...especially if it is a Triumph. Already had the Rocket...now I have the Thunderbird...not the 1600 but the 1700. Some of us are bigger in size (in a lot of cases...unfortunately...others...we just deal with what we are "carrying") and the bike doesn't lose any performance with an additional 260 lbs (my case) onboard...it is a unique bike in any of it's configurations...just wish they would have made it more of a Touring machine...not necessarily like a Gold Wing or an Ultra but cruise control and a top box/trunk would have been nice.

08 R3 vs 08 streetglide

i have an 08 rocket 3 classic and i enjoy riding it. the acceleration is exhillirating or however that's spelled, damm spell checker anyway. it handles okay, seems very heavy, sorta top heavy in fact, to me. i have the full triumph windshield and tors/cat delete, tune, etc. it's an intimidating bike to ride, again, for me. i've ridden it across oklahoma a couple of times and it performs well and attracts a lot of positive attention. i also have a 2008 streetglide which i bought new, and as far as being practical, comfortable, and cool, it fills the bill. i can be cruizing at 75 mph, doing 2500 rpm's in sixth gear, click on the electronic cruise control because it has the throttle by wire system. i.e. the throttle body has a stepper motor that is actuated via the throttle sensor, and cruise works seamlessly. i'm using the 10" windshield rather than the belt of a windshield that the streetglides come with factory. i have excellent wind protection, and last winter built the motor to a 103", .579 lift cams, vance & hines pro pipe, and better performance parts throghout. it dyno's at 107 hp and 118 ft lbs of torque. that's pretty strong for a built 103, without going into head work, etc. for long distance, my streetglide gets the duty. for scaring the hell out of myself, the rocket gets taken for a ride. i know this is a rocket site and i appreciate that, but as far as comfort, wind control, excellent stereo, great cruise control, and high speed touring, the harley is still number one in my corral.

I have an'09 R3T, and like it fairly well...up to about 90 mph.
The more i ride it, the more I notice the girth, the weight, the sheer mass of the bike. I had it tuned, so it runs very, very well. But at speeds over 90, it's not for me. The handling gets too squirrely. Contrast that with my Hayabusa; the 'Busa is more stable at 140 than the R3T is at 90. When I sell my Rocket, it will be because of its sheer size , which I knew about going in, and because of the (lack of) handling, which I did not know going into the deal.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a bike weighing over half-a-ton (with me on it) doesn't handle all that well, huh!

It's still a unique bike, and I'm glad I to be able to say that I owned one. But I will not be sorry to see it ride away on that day in the future when I sell it.

r3t tach

hi what tach did you put on her? do you have a pic? tks i have found dakota digital...500.00 bucks nice but pricey would like something a little simpler. tks jesse

R3t.....

I agree that a 6-speed would probably be the best single improvement to the R3T....then:

2 tach
3 improved sensors and display system
4 cruise control\electronics package
5 R3R tuning availability
6 center stand
7 trunk

all of which are available aftermarket, but the integration of the 2-3-4 would be excellant....

My bike came with a center stand. I promptly removed it if anybody needs one ....best offer.

6 speed and vibration

The Rocket is a beast compared to the rest but yep it seems to be begging for another gear. Also the vibration to me is not so noticable at first then after a while my throttle hand just goes to sleep. It's a very fine vibration. I got gel palmed fingerless gloves and that helped. I'm happy with mine as is because it is so freaking awsume compared to everything else out there. But, if I had a wish for future RT3 models I would love to see a six-speed with electronic crusie control.
