I was thinking about you lot all day .. regret the tyranny of distance didn't allow to join you all (from what I heard Richard and Ponters were in fine form .. maybe good thing I didn't chance my luck back in Qld in their company .. who was Mitchy wanting to screwdriver ?? ..hahaha) so glad you blokes had a great day .. proud to have mates of your calibre shiiit -hot fellas.
We ordered steaks. They came with a little sharpened stick in them saying how they were cooked, rare, medium etc. They also came with a pretty impressive steak knife, which I said was a neat stabbing implement. Mitch cracked us up by saying he'd rather stab someone with the stick. You get the idea..........
Garth Tander, 3 times Bathurst winner and V8 Supercar Champion. He spent a fair bit of time talking to us until he had to leave to get ready for qualifying. Anyone get a pic of Lee Holdsworth - driver for the Erebus team that Les works for? http://www.erebusmotorsportv8.com/team/
The whole set up at the track is HUGE with dozens of semis for the teams, sh#t loads of tyres, tools and spares, people everywhere. Here's just a couple of things of interest amongst the trucks.
It started out as 2 blokes, grew to 3, then 4, then 5. And then 7 at the last minute. Wasn't planned to be a gathering. Somewhat extraordinary circumstances. Next time - promise.
Funny how this panned out, I was just going to the race meeting to catchup with some of my ol mates that I haven't seen for awhile as I don't do the race travel circus thing anymore as I am workshop based and leave it to the young keen ones.
Glad you all had a great day and experienced some of my world.... I could say its just a job but I have been blessed to do what I really enjoy for 30 years full time and get paid for it.......I know alot of people that don't enjoy there work and turn up every day.
