Testing some new headlight bulbs

Had that on normal original bulbs. Left side too I think.

The UK where I am has prett stringent lighting regulations for vehicles, all headlights need to be "e" marked and are tested on a machine at an annual inspection for aim and beam pattern. Occasionally depending who is carrying out the testing they will let an HID upgrade through but its really down to if they are in a good mood that day or not.

I would worry that the chinese LED units do not conform to the correct beam pattern for uk use.

Many are € marked (some possibly correctly) and if it's a UK seller it has the correct dip cutoff or will have a universal approved center dip beam for bikes. ASK!
A few of the Aussies have the Chinese ones - they drove on the left too iirc.

And compared with a lot of the EU - The UK MoT is a doddle to pass.

hmm will maybe give them a try at some stage then, do they have a decent spread for lighting up the edges on unlit roads at night? Or is it more of a spotlight beam straight ahead? How well do they fit the rocket headlight buckets or is some chopping required?

Do a "search" on here for LED's - There are many posts with a lot of pictures showing what they are capable of

I cannot comment on the Chinese ones - I have JW-Speaker adaptives in now - and had JW-Speaker GEN-1 8630s before that.
The Gen-1s required some bodging - The new ones just dropped in. Both knock the livinbejeezus out of the rather poor OEM lights.

Many Chinese ones are copies of the Gen2 JW-Speaker (and/or Harley Daymaker - made by JW-Speaker), so should have a flat wide dip
Main should be additional to dip. And broad.

- so my 38 year old Guzzi should just puddle along with a 45W glow worm? - It has a Truck-Lite LED in. Form should always follow function.

People need to be clear many of us have LED light units that drop into the empty stock tin shell once the stock light and reflector are removed like Daymaker and Chinese copies etc. Not to be confused with led bulb replacements which are a completely different animal and far more prone to quality and design issues. some are apparently brilliant most are crap as they try and adapt the stock Halogen type reflector with a LED globe replacement with often dodgy results due to focus issues etc. There are however globe replacement LED that are quality engineered to provide correct focus etc for SOME stock reflectors but may still be crap in others.
