tastie new bits from milan show

Being from the younger gen myself (I'm 24,) most of people I talk to that are my age are concerned with two types of bikes, [insert Japanese 600cc/1000cc here] and anything HD. When I was looking to get into bikes a few years back, I just went online and browsed every single motorcycle manufacturer's website I could think of and when I found the R3 on the triumph website, I knew this was my dream bike. A few bikes later, the dream became a reality and I couldn't be happier.
People have many opinions about motorcycles. My buddies at work are mainly in the Harley crowd with a couple of other bikess, a Raider, a BMW R1100GS and one Daytona. I bet I ride more than all of the added up. One gives me crap becasue my bike has been back to the shop a couple of times. He says his has never gone bak. I said that's becasue its never been out of his garage. He let me know that he put over 1,000 miles on it this summer.
I think none of these guys, including the Daytona fellow have picked a bike they can't get off of like my Brahma.

As I understand it the Rockets are made in both India and England. I was told this by the dealer I bought my bike from. I do notice that right now there are still some brand new Rocket Touring bikes here in the US for sale at just under 14000 US dollars. I think the list price was about 17000 when I was looking.

besides yamahas , bmws and ktms new models ducati has gone all in on the cruiser market. new motor, frame, etc etc and a bunch of electronic goodies including launch control... this will be an interesting year
it's one sexy beast

This thing is sick! I love the Diavel

I really hate to predict it... but the R3 will be dead by the time they are done, and considering it's existence is only as a Halo product, and not as a leader in sales. I doubt, but hope, it gets an update rather than just killed off outright.

The bikes as great as they are, are incredibly behind the times. They were never diversified, as you mention, into a platform for a family of bikes, but left to rot with 3 versions of the same bike bearing different names and incredibly minor tweaks over he years + a tourerish version. I just can't see the company that outright killed the Daytona 955, then built a 1300 cc Daytona prototype capable of over 200mph, then killed the program and stated there will never be another big daytona again refreshing the R3.

I don't want to see it killed off either, but I don't want to see them market it as some type of "Harley" bike. I REALLY enjoy driving my R3 around and no one, except the people that know, know what it is. I went to our local Harley dealer to get a HD friend up North a shirt from Gator Harley. I pulled into that lot full of look alike HD's and everyone's eyes were on my bike. I'm sure 95% of them were trying to figure out "what HD model is that". I love the exclusivity of this bike. If they decide to kill it off, I'll trade my 15' in a brand new one and keep riding. BUT, that Moto Guzzi FLying Fortress has caught my eye a bit.......

I believe that all Rockets are born and suckled at the Hinckley factory in England, Dave. Here's the factory video of how they're made:

Good to see the manufacturing process is advancing to a new level, possibly a smattering of kryptonite can be added to the mix to make it a SUPERBIKE.

Didn't see anyone post this one. It's a bimmer, but man it looks good.

2016 BMW R nineT Scrambler: More Specs And Mega Gallery

bmw is introducing several air cooled models this year... i got hammered before when i DARED to say triumph needs to update the r3... heresy to say throttle by wire. ADVANCED abs and oh my gosh an actual cruise control ????????????? the new speed triples etc have all this and MORE . if triumph doesnt add a bunch of this to the 2016 r3 im betting they will drop the bike. They are falling to far behind the likes of the x diavel, ktms new 1290 gt , mv will have a new 1100cc engine for their models this year, the roland sands designed victory proto type.. etc etc

Maybe one of you guys who has been a Rocket fan or owner for awhile can answer these questions. How many years has the Rocket been made? Was there only one model for a while? How many changes have there been and what year were they made?

I've never heard of the factory in India. They have a big factory in Thailand where they make the Bonneville and some of the
smaller triples. The Rocket is made mostly in England and is assembled in England but some of the tins are made in Thailand. Fenders, side covers and maybe the tank too.
