I was lead to believe that the touring was speed limited to around 93mph because of an instability problem they have...that's what the tech at my local shop said when i questioned him about more top end when i owned an 08 touring
NO and weve retuned the R3T and run them over 180mph and no instability

OK - Got rid of the Metz - on with the Avon Cobra's - it's like a new bike. No weaving, a lot lighter in a straight line and stick's like glue in the corners. Very happy camper right now.

Congrats on finding the solution!
I've had problems with Metzeler tires on two cruisers - shall use the brand NO MORE!!!

Supposedly Metzler is coming out with a new tire...888's to compete with some of the better tires. Anybody tried them?

my 07 classic would go into a weave when i would slow down to around 30 mph w/o hands on bars.
have almost new metz 880 went for an over night camp was loaded with ice chest,sm tent, sleep bag, a small suitcase w/flashlights ect. i stopped for gas an then took off got up to about 40 mph and went to put my sun glasses on and had almost the tank slapper. didn't take me long to get my hand back on the bars. i weigh 160 and had about 100 lbs on the back i guess it didn't like that.

I had a very disturbing incident at 90mph in a relatively tight Autobahn curve, not long after I bought my R3R.
Overtaking a truck I almost got bucked off, the handlebar shaking wildly.
I blamed it on the windshield and leatherbags and was very unhappy with my Roadster. ****, did I buy the wrong bike?

Later I found an evil little nail in the backtire. Pressure was 0.8 bar (12psi). I realized I had been going over 110mph in that condition.

The Owner’s manual for my R3T says not to ride over 85 MPH with the factory screen and fogs lights attached as they are not rated for higher speeds. With both the new Mets and new Exedras, I have hit 120 with no headshake. However, when both front tires have been worn down, I get a slight headshake at several speeds above the posted freeway limit (105, 115, 130 mph indicated).

You mentioned a tank slapper in the first post; did you mean a no $hit tank slapper or a several headshake? I don't mean to be contentious, just that my only tank slapper (’06 VMAX) netted me a six week concussion, five broken ribs and a titanium rod holding my left arm together now... Headshakes are pretty unnerving no matter the speed but over the ton do indeed ruin a good pair of shorts...

It wasn't a full blown tank slapper - had one of those one and never want to go through that again (On a CBX 1000) - but this was a gradual increase in the weave that kicks it off - at around 130mph it got my attention real quick and I had a moment I thought I'd lost it.
