The tacho on my 2010 roadster has stopped working for some reason. All functions were working intermittently after start up & when riding, but now after the bike does it's electrical checks all instruments on tacho side don't work. No tacho, no fuel level, no gear indicator. Anyone had similar issue as I hear a new one will set me back $900 AUD, that's alot of beer. With a hot christmas coming I need to stay hydrated.

That sounds suspiciously like some corrosion in the multi-plug connector to me ? lift the tank, and trace it down to the multi-plug and have goooood look in there !
Yeh, thanks for the tip Ward. Haven't lifted the tank yet but probably tomorra. Funnily enough, went for a spin afterwards & all the instruments tried working for a bit then nothing again.

Good chance it's the classic purple wire crimps

Thanks for the tip Turbo. Lifted the tank & had a good look around. Traced the wire loom back, all seems fine, pulled the tacho off, checked & still has good connection. Tacho did work on start up but haven't been for ride yet. Party on people.

Yeah that's the thing, it can be a make/break connection. It's a kind of dry rot, green mould on copper. You will need to slice open the black sheath of the harness that all the wires sit inside to see the crimped connections.
It will appear good from outside, but the breakdown will be buried hidden inside out of sight.

I hope no body minds me putting my two cents in
I also think that for your problem that is a perfect spot to start uncover that conection to see if it is bad and even if it looks perfect that is a good place to connect volt meter probes and .monitor voltage
When it acts up you will either have good voltage or not and that should tell us what to check next.

Excellent video Turbo... I fully agree this is the most probable cause for this problem. In the automotive world, these multi wire crimp connections often caused numerous electrical problems. These were often found in the floor by the sill under the carpet. The carpet would get damp from winter snow/salt on drivers boots leading to green corrosion, bad connections, and make/break circuits.
