Tach, directional indicators, high beam indicator OUT!!!!

I installed a new Corbin seat w/ heater and lost all function of indicators (directionals, high beam, etc) including tach on right instrument. I checked all my fuses and they are good. Blinkers and all lights are functioning fine.
Another thing I noticed, my right side cover gets very hot. Is this normal?

How does the heater wire into the system? Plug in, spliced somewhere or direct to battery?

The right side cover should not get hot.... Turn signal blinker and other things there... Not good... Gotta double check your wiring... I would disconnect the seat before you damage any instruments if you haven't already.... Then walk back through it...

I forgot to mention the right side cover gets hot after a drive, not just setting there with the motor off. It makes some sense because the pipes are right there, but you would think they would put the brain and electronics near the hot side (maybe that's why they have trouble with electronics and idling problems, etc. on these bikes)
The seat is wired very simply. Just a fuse adaptor in slot #3 where the heated grips are fused and a neg. lead to the battery. The seat works fine. I lost function of my tach and all indicators on that side.

As mentioned in the previous post, retrace your steps and try again. Then check all the fuses to see if there is the slighest possibility that you arced when putting the negative connection onto the battery. I know, it sounds like I'm saying you did something wrong, but alas, I'm not, , because I've arced myself with a ****ed wrench it and it shorted on a Harley!

I checked and rechecked all the fuses, even the fuse adaptor that came with and powers the heater in the seat. I didn't notice an arch when I reattached the neg wire to the battery. This just doesn't make sense unless the right instrument gauge went out when I disconnected and reconnected the neg wire to the battery somehow.

Check and see the remote possibility that the Corbin seat pinched a wire! In answer to your hot questioin, I have the touring seat, and I have not noticed any difference in heat, the under surface of the corbin allows the air to flow very freely!

I dropped it off at the dealer this afternoon, it's under warrentee and they'll fix it, thanks for your help. As far as the heat in the side cover, the frame gets very hot due to the close prox of the cat and pipes.

Hope your dealer fixes it fast enough. I'd be betting on a pinched wire somewhere. Easy to do when taking things apart and putting back together.

You would think a pinched wire would cause a fuse to blow. I'm betting on a bad gauge or a unplug somewhere. Another clue is I was yanking (as gently as possible) on the fuse box to get it open, maybe a wire came loose just under it.
