All, thanks for the kind comments. The insert is lexan (same thing they use for bullet proof glass, very tough),that is black through and through so scratches shouldn't show up as if it was painted/powdercoated etc. The lexan is only 1/16 inch thick. it is very light, I wanted to ride with it to check out the heat thing, didn't have any problems and didn't expect any as the melting temp of lexan is much higher than the plastic radiator shrouds most Rockets have. Having said that I haven't sat in a traffic jam in August in Death Valley with it but I don't expect any problems. Almost any design would be possible.

there is a market for these I have not seen any available so far if there is a way to custom fab theses I would like one with my clubs logo
 
Glad to hear there were no overheating issues. I rode in Phoenix for a couple of years so overheating from a blocked radiator comes to mind pretty quickly. It does look great and could really set off the looks of the bike.
 
All,
I've had several questions about possible artwork on the grill inserts.

Many of you know I'm a firefighter so I decided to combine the universal firefighter emblem (Maltese Cross) and some R3 stuff to come up with a logo to give it a try.







The insert sets approx. 3/8" away from the actual radiator (same as the stocker) so I don't think airflow is going to be a problem. This design doesn't restrict nearly as much air as some I've seen that have slots instead of the diamonds I used. I went with those because that is what I did on the air-vents on my fairing.

Thoughts?

I love the original too... but I'm also waiting to see what Flip has coming down the pipe here shortly too.. WOW.. Options.. Options.. and you guys are looking at taking away from my Jardine fund.. lol
