Stuck in first.

You do not need the clutch tool to pull the basket. Just hold the basket with your hand and hit it with a impact wrench she will spin right off you will need the puller for the rear flywheel and stater stuff. I take a look at the components on the upgrade for the second gear and the shims and the bearings for the out drive.
 
Ok.. Clutch is off.. now for the alternator.. Any advice on the really must do parts list?.. pretty sure ill do the 2nd gear mod.. don't want to split the bugger again!! part numbers for this?

Of course the second gear and the rear output drive is a must. You should check the lower crank gear to make sure the key way is not worn. there were some bad ones (heat treatment) if the keyway is not worn sloppy then I would say yours is good. Some of the stuff I would not worry about it like the ignition plug it got changed because the original is not water tight in the back. I say clean yours up and some permatex or silicone would make it moisture proof.
