I am 6'2, 240lbs and find the stock seat on the R very comfortable. After spending 2 days in a row riding my hiney felt no discomfort which is rather rare for a stock seat. I had already made a one day ride-in appointment with Russel Cycle Products in Shasta City on my way back from WA later this fall for a custom seat but am now thinking about cancelling that. It's tough to justify spending $700 for what may be negligible improvements, but then again I may be glad to have it next year on my CA to Cape Cod and back ride.

I'm 6' and 260lbs and the stock seat is very comfy on my GT. I haven't thought about replacing it once. I've done over 40,000kms on mine, various long days, long hauls, no issues.

My experience is solely my own and may not be yours but the seat is not on the list of things needed to change.
That's actually pretty impressive considering forward controls put more weight on you tailbone.

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.........That said........i'm 6' 3" and around 220lbs. I have both R and GT seat. The GT is more comfortable for me.
I think it spreads the load over a bigger area (haha...i'm getting technical now 😂 )......but seriously, it's the GT seat for me. All the way. No question.

Yup, cancelling my appointment tomorrow, staying with what I have and saving myself $700.
