Stock passanger seat question

So I've only been the proud owner of a new R3 standard for about a week now. Man am I having a blast. I took delvery at the dealer and the rear seat was not installed. They showed it on the floor this way and omitted the re-install of it when I picked it up.

I have now picked it up and just now installed it. The bolt holes in the rear fender did not line up well to the under fender bracket...so I adjusted that.

Question is...is there supposed to be some type of rubber washer or something to protect that paint where the rear seat bracket tightens against the fender where the bolts attach?

Or do I just presume it will chip the paint but it is out of sight (under the seat) and out of mind).

Appreciate some feed back here...I left all somewhat loose as it is raining anyway and want an answer before I torque down.

There should be some thick rubber washers in between. And you might want to find another dealer after you go back and get them...it's a pretty shady trick to sell you a displayed bike and then take parts like seats and windscreens off before delivery. It's also one of the oldest tricks in the book. If the agreed to price doesn't include everything that's displayed on it they should tell you so before the deal is done. Always ask before you hand over that down-payment.
 
You may not want to mount that stock pillion pad anyway. No one will want to ride with you on it. One of my first purchases was a new seat and now I'm sending it off to get remolded as a custom seat.
 
Those pileons are real uncomfortable according to my daughter.
I had to make her a custom one.
Took a suziki boulevard wide body pileon I got off ebay for $14 or 15 bucks,
cut the mounting plate off the rocket pileon and the suzuki and pop riveted them together.
Now the mounting holes all matched up and daughter had a nice plush seat that looked like it was made to go behind ours.
Of course, now I have the seat I got off Tony so I don't use that one anymore.

The necessary rubbers are missing. Do not engage..WARNING...Do not engage I suppose it should be a Caution: inasmuchas it's not life threatening unless thelife of the paint is a concern. Cause it sho wont last long.

Found some great rubber fender washers at my local Ace Hardware...I appreciate the input fellas.

I love the idea of the suzuki seat..."skip" how did you know the Boulevard was the pad to go with?

How does it look on the bike? Any photos?

I did have my wife sit on the stocker...said "it feels like a bicycle seat..." I really want to find a Corbin with the back rest someone want to sell. I like the runble seat...had one of those on a BMW that my wife and I both loved.

Speaking of BMW's...buddy of mine has a K1200RS pretty quick bike...I short shifted at 5K (still in break in period) he bounced off the rev limiters...by the bottom of the on ramp...had him buy 100 feet and pulling.

I'm still giggling bout that one.
 
I looked at all the bikes at work.
Handled all the pileons.
Tracked down the owner and asked to remove it.
Borrowed some tools from the maintance dept.
Took mine off and put that one behind my solo seat.
The curve of the front of the pileon matched the back of the solo,
so I came home and started ebaying it.
I'll go out after daylight and put it back on and snap a few pics for you.
BTW, my daughter was 225 when I made it for her,
and she fell asleep on it coming back from Branson.
She's down to 175 now and still finds it comfortable.

I live down a dirt road, what can I say.
It looks real good after I wash it,
(once a year)
but only till I ride it once..
