Sticker shock!!!

I was in the area of my local Triumph dealer today, so I thought I would drop in and see what they want for some parts.

TORS 549.00
K&N 82.99 (underseat)
Labor 3hrs @ 89.00/hr = 267.00 dollars

Let's not forget the tax, another 57 dollars or so.

Holy cow, they could have at least stuck a gun in my face when thay told me the prices.

The TORS, average price, can get for 499 if I look around. And then there is always the D&D.

The K&N, I know I can get it cheaper, at least 10-15 dollars cheaper.

Then the labor, just how hard can this be? After reading the instructions, etc, it doesn't seem like it takes a degree in rocket surgery to replace the pipes.

Anyhow, I will look around, and do it myself, I will even buy a cable and learn how to do the tune myself, if that is what it takes.

I just wanted to vent a little.

Don't know how close you are to your 10k or 20k service but you'll be back to vent again...
You can do all those things yourself very easily with a little help from the guys here. Exhaust should be a piece of cake.

I don't like over paying for parts and service much either but if you think about the overhead expenses in operating a dealership [ utilities, taxes, wage and benefits for several employees] it's not hard to understand why prices are high. Thankfully I have tools and the internet and the know how to use both.

You will definitely get a sense of satisfaction working on your bike yourself. Plus as a bonus you will become intimately familiar with your bike. There is a lot of high level knowledge on this Forum. This forum is dominated by nice guys. Good Wrenching!

I offered these to a friend if I don't heae back from him I will contact you. I am sirry abit the kighting I polished them up with rouge so the fkas was a kittke to refkective,

If not I have a set of Predators I am going to polidh up andsake akso, They will give you 10 to 15 more HP then the tors but are a little priceier. But believe me its a gun worth holding to your head. I will let people know when the jardines ar availabke byt they are still on the bije and wikk need polishing. A good high soeed buffer and rouge majes them kooj shinnier the when they were new.

SO my advice is do not be in a hurry as you willmend up kicking yourself

At my local dealer (which is out of bussines now) they wanted $17.99 pls tax for a quart of mobil one, i went to my local advance autoparts and got it for $10.99 and to my surprise they also carried the oil filter for the rocket
I saved $53.00 just in parts on my oil change, not to mention the labor they wanted to charge me which it was $47.50.
I'm all about supporting my local economy but i also dont want to get f----d

K&N under the seat= complete waste of money, but if you want I will sell you one for $20.00 you pick up the postage and I do not even charge sales tax

Dealers provide a needed service but I will draw a parallel between that needed "service" and the "service" provided to a dairy farmer by the traveling stud service.

HI BOB, I HAD MY 500 MILE SERVICE AND 10K SERVICE DONE IN SPOKANE... BEFORE THE 10K SERVIVE I HAD A LITTLE COOLANT LEAK. WHEN I TOOK THE BIKE IN I WAS ASSURED THAT PART OF THE SERVICE WAS TIGHTENING EVERYTHING AND A RUN ON THE SCOPE... .. NEEDLESS TO SAY... I TIGHTENED THE HOSE CLAMPS A FEW DAY AFTER.. END OF PROBLEM. THAT WAS MY CHECK ON DEALER SERVICE... . A WARRANTY IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT.. I WORK ON MY OWN STUFF... CUTS DOWN ON MOUTHWASH AFTER..
