interested in how many of you do your own oil change. I've used the dealership in the past but 330 bucks is a bit high for the oil change on my 2015 i ordered the kit have done it before and ordered the TOCR3 (sold out) from hermys triumph.

People pay others to do what some consider a simple task for all sorts of valid reasons, anyone who struggles to understand this and gives you a hard time for paying needs to consider that other people have different experiences and circumstances than them (I know, shocking right?).
If you're not setup to do jobs like this, or you will worry that you will get it wrong then the extra cost is a cheap price for the convince, and more importantly for the peace of mind. If you're going to be riding and worrying about the bike then you've negated the reason for owning the bike, it shouldn't cause stress it should relieve it.
Do what works for you, do what makes sense for you, do what fits for you. Everyone has different situations, knowledge, and different financial positions. What makes sense for one person doesn't for the next, people who can't comprehend that have an issue, not you.

Been changing my own oil for over 50 years. It is simple to do. Why would anybody take it to dealer and pay over $300 for a job that has only $100 to $130 in parts ???

Good call.....
  • It's cheaper.
  • You get to use the brand of oil you want (hey, don't start - you all know who you are... :),
  • You know it will be done correctly and filled to the proper level.
  • It's faster than driving to the shop and waiting or having to come back later
Friendly (maybe unneeded) advice- warm it up and then level the bike with a block of wood under the kickstand so it drains fully. Be sure to block/strap or otherwise secure the bike so it can not tip over. Despite its massive weight, it's easier than you might expect sitting nearly upright with the added leverage of a wrench when you go to loosen those drain bolts.

You don't have to use new drain washers every time.
Torque wrench
An old 4 - 5 gallon oil jug with most of one side cut out makes a great drain pan (and fits under the bike), but you need to drain it part way into the change.
Wix 51358 is (or was) who makes the Triumph branded filter...
