anyone have a problem starting ? cranks good but wont fire . then after a long spell it will fire and run fine no problems the rest of the day, verry random. last time it was after a rain over night next morning i ended up jumping it cause it cranked the battery dead then it finally started?

I've dealt with this off and on for some time. I have found that sometimes it was the battery. Many times I have had to replace the battery after two years. When it cranks but doesn't start, and then on the next try only the relay clicks, that seems to be a battery going bad. I have managed to start it sometimes, by a desperate combination of rocking the bike forward in first or second, popping the clutch and hitting the starter and pulling the clutch right back in at the same instant. IT MIGHT be that the starter is just drawing too much current at the beginning of starting and the little bump overcomes that friction or load. (take any scientific stuff here with a grain of salt, I'm guessing) Happened this very morning at El Mirage after I left the bike on the trailer overnight at the race course. It was 27 degrees in the morning and I could not get it to start at all. With a starting/charger it would crank for a bit, then drop the voltage so low the instruments would cycle through like they were just turned on. I had started it the day before at home with the Bump and Start routine and it started fine. So I THINK it was a low battery in this case just unable to over come the temperature and starting load.
Anyway I replaced the battery and an hour later it is cranking fast and starting almost instantly.
I am ignorant about the relays, but that will give me one more thing to swap out next time.
