I have spoken to Keno351 about getting an order together for the starter motor upgrade from the US.
Breeze has kindly put his hand up to help with this (Thanks)
Let me know if you are interested so we can get numbers to get some costing's. I would like to say no more than $150 each!!!! But we will see.

I will get them shipped to me (Cos I'm closer) then would ship them on......

The Starter we are looking at is: The 17610 fits a 1999 Toyota Solara 2.2L with 5SFE motor.
So Far:

Mittzy, please explain?

Should i be looking at this? My auto elect seems to think our stock starters are fine but if you think we should look at this I will.

Hi Anth,
Keno351 has been having some issues with his starter (slow cranking I think)
My starter is working fine but I thought an upgrade might be ok (Cos I can) but not necessary.
Wayne Tripp started this post and it has spurred interest with keno351.

Sounds good no harm havin a spare if and when you get them I'll take one please:cool:

I've really felt my starter was struggling during cold weather but now I'm pretty sure it's fine and the problem was in fact the battery. This winter I'm riding about 3-4 times the distance every day that I was previously and I haven't had one slow cranking experience. The other thing I've done is replace the bolts on the battery terminals with slightly longer ones. I have a few bits and pieces connected to it and I don't think the original terminal bolts were making a solid enough contact. Perhaps it's a good idea to have a spare starter if you really want one but I'd be checking the battery and connections before replacing the starter motor to fix a slow cranking problem.
