You can, you may want to read some threads on that. If you cant find i will help. Its more that just swapping starters, the gear needs to be changed, you need the triumph starter repair kit off ebay, parts in that kit you need. Look up starter replacement in search box, starter upgrade stuff like that, massive amounts of info that will assist in this change.

Hey guys, I need a little advise. I did a starter swap with a Toyota starter unit. Swapped the gear box directly on to the new motor/solenoid, trimmed the push rod by 1 1/16". It all feels good and when together easy. But all I get when I hit the starter button is 1 click. The solenoid is not engaging the starter motor. Plus it's a new battery. I am getting 11.68V to the solenoid. Any ideas what to check next????
