After 50years of driving Big diesel trucks I can assure you they are nothing like riding a Rocket, sounds like the Yamaha is the bike for you if it suits you then that's all that counts,

OK, Well, I didn't mean BIG diesel trucks. More like a diesel F-250! ;)

My last darkside bike, Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe, had the same spec's, except power of course, and it handled pretty good for it's weight.

Well I went to see the bike, and Bobby even let me ride it, with him in front on his wife's bike.
The bike looks really great, but............................

I've ridden big bikes, heavy bikes, dark-side bikes and i got to admit, I was disappointed in the handling.
Felt like riding a diesel truck. I guess that wide CT didn't help much but that was only part of it.
To be fair, my only ride now is a Yamaha Super Tenere, and that bike is the best all-around bike I've ridden, and 230 lbs lighter.
I really wanted to like it, but I'm gonna have to pass.:(
To bad but I must admit if I was going for it and I am glad it sold because I was going to call him today :) Anyway the first thing I would have done is peeled that car tire off and stuck a Exedra Max or a Cobra on her. That alone would have gotten rid of that concrete block feeling in the steering.

I rode it last night, but guess it sold later at 1:40 AM on ebay. Glad I had the chance to ride it first!

There is more out there but none with them bags she was a one of a kind for sure. You should go test ride one that has a MC tire on it the difference will amaze you. I am 157 lbs and get along fine on them.

Bad thing is my wifey gave me the go ahead :(

Would definitely like to ride a newer one to see. Just don't see them around much and doubt the dealer 50 miles away would demo.

@ace50 that bike has already had the update kit in installed all you cam chain stuff has been update along with the transmission and Torsional Damper bearings. The guy take care of her so if I could explain to the wifey why I needed a fourth Rocket it would be sold :D

Still thinking of asking for forgiveness and already checked on the flight cost verses throwing her in the trailer.
I just checked Ebay and it is still listed at 5500 maybe the 6500 fell thru I know he posted a price drop on this site to the 5500 with a cover

OOPs. Looks like I bought that one--about 5 minutes before I joined this forum. That's the one in my Avator.

Bobby mentioned someone who are just getting their motorcycle license was talking to him about it.
Is that you? Heck of a first bike if it is! I recommend a rear tire change before you ride it! :x3:
