Thinking about going to check out a local Rocket for sell. Lynchburg VA area.
An 05 with little over 30K.
Just stalking around here and read about that year bike having a lower cam chain failure issue???

Anything else to watch out for???

What would be the high mileage these bikes reliably get???

Hello and welcome, buy the newest model you can afford, their were lots of upgrades done along the way!!
That being said, their are guys on here with over 100,000miles on their bike, so reliability is spotty on the earlier models. For the most part this is a well engineered bike that is over built to handle the power it can put out, and as large as she is they handle great! This monster will rip the handle bars out of you hands, so be careful on a rest ride. Good luck with you guest!!!

@ace50 that bike has already had the update kit in installed all you cam chain stuff has been update along with the transmission and Torsional Damper bearings. The guy take care of her so if I could explain to the wifey why I needed a fourth Rocket it would be sold :D

Still thinking of asking for forgiveness and already checked on the flight cost verses throwing her in the trailer.
I just checked Ebay and it is still listed at 5500 maybe the 6500 fell thru I know he posted a price drop on this site to the 5500 with a cover
 
Hello Ace and welcome from Northern Virginia. After you get the Rocket, you won't be able to stalk any longer, it is just to outstanding to be stealthy...
 
Well I went to see the bike, and Bobby even let me ride it, with him in front on his wife's bike.
The bike looks really great, but............................

I've ridden big bikes, heavy bikes, dark-side bikes and i got to admit, I was disappointed in the handling.
Felt like riding a diesel truck. I guess that wide CT didn't help much but that was only part of it.
To be fair, my only ride now is a Yamaha Super Tenere, and that bike is the best all-around bike I've ridden, and 230 lbs lighter.
I really wanted to like it, but I'm gonna have to pass.:(
