Sounds like keys rattling in front of fuel tank

It sounds like keys rattling against the front of the fuel tank at certain RPM's, it doesn't do it all the time but it does do it a lot. It's a little annoying when it's happening because it's very pronounced. I rode my brother-in-laws R3T same year as mine and you could barely hear it on his bike. He rode mine and said it was a lot louder than his. Is this a common thing with the R3T's? Is there a known fix or should I just live with it? And let it be said that I only had the bike key in and nothing else so I know it isn't from any extra keys I had on a key ring

Does the noise sound like a paint can rattle? If so, it is usually an indication that your cam chain is loose. How many miles on the bike? There is a spacer available from Triumph to take up the extra slack when your cam chain adjuster is at its maximum adjustment. Another thing to check is the radiator trim fasteners. They do come loose and the plastic pieces around the rad can rattle. There is another noise that I have had due to loose exhaust manifold to cylinder head nuts. This noise did not sound like keys rattling though and usually only happened when the engine was cold. Tightening them up cured that problem. Another item to check is the fuel tank prop rod under the fuel tank on the right hand side. It can come loose and rattle.

Thanks for the info. No, doesn't sound like a paint can rattle and it does it when it's cold and hot so probably not exhaust manifold. It's a vibration noise that sounds like extreme fast sound like keys vibrating against metal in the very front of the tank and the back of the top triple tree where you insert the bike ignition key. It sounds like it's coming from the top of the bike. The fuel tank prop rod might be it but I think if that was where the noise was coming from the sound of it hitting something if it was loose would come come from under the tank? I'll check the radiator trim fasteners and the tank rod but from what I hear it's coming from the top where the tank meets the back of the top triple tree.
